At the end of the day, six wins was the norm/expectation line. Heupel had chances to beat Pitt and OM and just didn’t get it done with some questionable decisions. Weren’t competitive against UF who is looking worse every week.

I’m glad we are beating bad teams but not putting it together to beat an actual decent team. We’ll get rolled by Bama and UGA and beat Vandy and USA. UK is winnable but we’ll see.

Gotta recruit much better than he’s currently doing

You want to see a fan base turn on a university, if plowman bans fans for a game this might be over.

If she does she should be ran out of Knoxville.

1️⃣ - we had 4 possessions in the 2nd half with a chance to take the lead. We stalled each time.

2️⃣ - We knew before the season our Linebackers were razor thin. I so appreciate every one of them, but only one in the rotation is a bonafide SEC starter. Matt Corral put a big spotlight on that position and the coaching staff could not hide it last night.

3️⃣ - At one point, for a brief moment, in one of the above mentioned possessions, we had 3 back up OL in the game (one a walk on) and a walk on running back. I believe the Cade Mays injury may be the single biggest reason we lost the game. Hard to get a rhythm going and sustain a drive with OL breakdowns.

4️⃣ - the refs were awful. 100%. No argument here. But we’ve played in a lot of SEC games with putrid officiating. On occasion (rare), we have been the beneficiary. We still had opportunity to win the game. Once everything cools off, that’s what the coaches and players will be kicking themselves about.

5️⃣ - I’m not mad. I’m not into moral victories. None of the above is an excuse. We could have and maybe should have won last night. However, I am into observing culture. We’ve all watched a lot of Vol football through the last decade long debacle. Admit it. You expected on more than one occasion for us to surrender a knock out blow to Ole Miss and get beat by 3 scores. Times are changing. I like where Heupel is going.

What your saying is that we had plenty of chances to win, like the turnover and zero points, and if we score on just two of opportunities the refs wouldn't have been a factor. I agree. It should have never come down to that last bad call by the refs.

I think I need to pull back a little. My wife and kids knew how excited I was for the game so she spent a good portion yesterday cooking burgers for dinner, nachos for halftime, spicy jalapeño margaritas (my jam lately), hung Tennessee decorations with the kids, and they all decked out in Tennessee swag to watch the game with me. Even the dog had on a Tennessee collar.

…. and instead of fully appreciating and having a fun night, I spent a lot of last night frustrated and annoyed.

It’s been years since I let a football game affect my mood. Idk if this was a combination of convincing myself we were legit good again, or just really wanting to embarrass Lane, or what. But this game really pissed me off.

I feel terrible about that.

I might ground myself from watching a game or two. Which thankfully it’s Alabama week so it’s probably best I don’t watch.

Beat to probably do it this week. We are going in on two crutches and a sling.

Jackson Lampley was a four star.

Otherwise- yeah.

But signing guys like Nimrod and Kaleb Perry and Brian Grant ain’t gonna turn things around either.

Tennessee needs some serious thoroughbred horses on both sides of the trenches. Not just bodies. Hopeful that Heupel can recruit and sign high-end 4 star and some 5 star talent there.

The fan thing has been discussed to death already. It sucked, not worth mentioning again.

Big picture, we were Cedric Tillman’s fingertips away from beating the #13 team in the country and the #1 offense with a 70-man roster, without our starting RB, without starting offensive linemen, with a defensive TD taken away, with what I’ll generously call “inconsistent” officiating, some curiously conservative late play-calling, without hooker on the last drive, etc etc.

To be clear, I’m over moral victories. But that game looked like a clearly outmatched team hanging till the end, not giving up, fighting tooth-and-nail all the way. And almost pulling it off!

It was heartbreaking last night, this morning it feels like an effort we should be proud of, and hopefully a sign of what’s possible in the future.

Put up respectable efforts against Bama and Georgia, beat Kentucky (I feel like we take this one more than ever now), USA, and Vandy, and let’s go bowling. Go vols.

#1 - Sanctimonious Sankey and his ilk at the SEC office do not deserve to have the Tennessee Vols in the SEC. We are better than that. I have watched our Vols get hosed by them in football and basketball for decades. The open corruption and cheating is why most of the country outside of the schools/fans in it hate the SEC. When Roy Kramer was commissioner the playing field leveled slightly, just a little, but went back to this garbage right afterwards. That Will Wade still holds the LSU basketball HC job says it all.

#2 - I don't want one person harmed by a projectile thrown by idiots in the crowd. However, UT proudly made the game an extravaganza while selling alcohol and making money on people who are passionate about Big Orange football enough to wear clothing that checkered the seating who are watching their guys get screwed over by, IMO, THE worst officiating crew annually in the corrupt SEC on a game that is the feature broadcast on the SECN while pushing the Kiffin/leaving in the middle of the night story in the media all week. Honestly, what did they expect to happen? The SEC knew the fix was in, we knew the fix was in, the people responded to it. Again, don't want anybody hurt by it, but I wish they would all head to the SEC office and do the same thing. I hope Vol twitter does its thing with them.

#3 - Just in the 4th quarter, on one play I counted three OM gloved hands grabbing jersey at the numbers on the backs of our defenders. No call. Followed by a holding call against our blocker on the last drive before the water bottle artillery started with his hands on the chest of the defender. That does not even get into the openly grabbing facemask and slinging our guy at the point of a pass catch by OM near their sideline. No call. To get the holding call on the next play our guy had to hold both of his arms in the air to show up the sideline official so that he had to make the call.

#4 - Corruption, cheating, manipulation, etc. kill whatever they touch. Dead. If there are no repercussions for openly doing it the people stop caring and find something else to do for entertainment. Memories of yesteryear and tradition are not enough. Tread lightly, Danny. The passion you see can turn to disgust and disinterest quickly if you hammer people over a situation you poured gas on.

if its that apparent to 102,455 people that a fix is on how can 1 person not see it? our officiating is horrible

If a contest isn't fair it's dead. Taking a TD off the board 100 percent effected the outcome. Corral did well but there's no win when a game's outcome is changed by the refs.

And yet still, that’s not the fault of the Ole Miss football team

Close game. Heupel did great with patchwork Oline! Hooker has heart, the whole team does.
ZERO quit in them, sans Milton!! Lol
Hate losing to Kiffin!
The refs and fake injuries completely swung the momentum all night.
Praying Hooker, Mays boys, and the rest the guys can get healthy!!!
6-7 wins still possible, and that has always been the goal!
