There were a lot of staffers on the previous staff (and this staff ie: Simon) that were really high on Beasley at LB, just like they were on banks. ILB is the hardest defensive position to play in this conference because of all the motions and RPOs.

Compare banks to when he first moved over to now and it’s night and day. This is his first true year at LB and there’s going to be bad moments. Part of it.

Another thing to remember: the other guys are on scholarship too lol. He’s not missing tackles against Carson Newman

I am withholding judgment on Beasley for the very reasons you give. He clearly has the desire and motor to do well. He needs work at recognition and technique. We have the coaches that can fix that IMO.

For motivation all the coaches need to do for both Banks and Beasley is replay video of Corral and Young coming at them play after play. Then say, "Get better or go home." My guess is they both would die trying to get better than go home. They have the hearts of real Vols.

My opinion on the coaching search….. I didn’t like Franklin or Elliot as potential hires…. I absolutely hated the Heup hire as it felt like we had to settle for someone that DW knew closely…. I have always been in the camp that I trust DW 100% with the moves he makes and so far that has proven to be true…I am 100% on board with JH but it is too early to celebrate the hire…. He has done a fantastic job exceeding expectations, making UT football fun again, and hired a great staff…. We are still going to be just a 6-6 or 7-5 football team so now the real challenge begins…Can JH build and grow this program? I am always reminded of Charlie weis…. Dominated out of the gate at Norte Dame including upsetting the number 1 team in the country…. They got cocky…. Gave him a 10 yr contract and even let a kid call the first play in one of their games. His program declined and he was fired 3-4 years later.

Went back and looked at the post from the day before and the day CJH was hired. Pure gold, from everybody, including myself. Is a good 30 min read. I can say @johnfnkelly wasn't a happy camper.

I wasn’t. I’m still not 100% sold but i’m more bought in at the moment than I was for any of our other previous hires at this point in their tenure.

Franklin is a bigger hire but none of us can stand him….. we would overlook it if he was Nick Saban but he is no where close to that level of a coach.

I would not have revoked my Vol card if he had been hired. But I would not have used it to watch any games either. Would have just taken a big step back and not cared until he and admin that hired him were gone. That was a bridge too far.

He is. We take shots at rival coaches because it's what we do, but James Franklin is a horrible person. We pick at Nick Saban or Dan Mullen or Kirby Smart because of who they coach. That's why we don't like them. But James Franklin, I truly cannot stand him. He covered up rape when he was at Vanderbilt, and hazing at Penn State. He's not a good person, and it matters, at least to me.

Concerning the gang rape at Vandy. I know there are a lot of trumped up allegations and accusations in the world today, but those guys used that poor girl like toilet paper...and Franklin tried to cover it up.

There are people that don't know or believe that, but I do.
