Yeah...I was devastated...I absolutely despise Franklin, and could not support the Vols with him as HC. I was in "anybody but that piece of walking excrement" mode after that bit of info came out.The thing I remember most is the happiness of being told we were going after a big name only to be completely crushed to learn it was Franklin. It was like someone put a dagger thru my heart. Was hoping it was false, then AV confirmed it and seemed excited, and all I could think was...

Whenever I heard about Franklin, I wasI remember not being a fan of a potential Franklin hire.
Pretty sure with CJH I was 'wait and see'.
I remember saying it reminded me of Fla hiring Spurrier from Duke and people laughed and after his first year nobody could do nothing with his offense and I hope the same thing happens with the Heup hire.@VFL28 said he’d rather have Steele than Heupel. Said Heup’s another Dooley![]()

Give me fuel. Give me fire. Give me that which I desire.
I did not want him. Thought it would be a huge expensive mistake. I was going to accept it .I was actually surprised at how many people were okay with and even excited by bringing in Franklin.
I was trying to come to terms with it because I thought it was happening but so glad it didn’t.
HAHA! The atmosphere was so awful in here at the time cause so many coaches turned us down. So glad Franklin said no. It did have the feel of having to settle when we hired Coach Hype.
There were a lot of staffers on the previous staff (and this staff ie: Simon) that were really high on Beasley at LB, just like they were on banks. ILB is the hardest defensive position to play in this conference because of all the motions and RPOs.Love to be wrong, I think he being one of the most athletic players is more of how unathletic we are in that spot though. Lol. Hope your right, love the kids heart and fight.

Defense has to be manageable in todays game. Effectively get two stops against some of these offenses and you win. After I calmed down and thought it through I said essentially the same thing. I love hiring an offensive innovator. They can take lemons and make lemonade - lift the program faster and create excitement. Like others including Bass, I was all about who he hired and especially on D. When I saw Banks at DC with CRG likely - that sealed the deal for me. Willie was my only worry. Now I am over that because I see the combo of Willie's and Banks' strong experience in the secondary as a terrific combo.
It feels good to forget about coaching searches for awhile. Now we can get back to focusing on recruits to rebuild this roster as fast as possible.
