Recruiting Forum Football Talk IV

7 years ago today-- Dobbs brought us back from 14 deficit with a few minutes to go against SC. In overtime, Barnett "bam bammed" the SC whiney quarterback, and we won when they had to kick a 145 yard field goal.
God I remember it was so absurdly cold that weekend. My wife went out and I was hell naw I'll stay and watch football thank you very much...and glad I did. Remember calling in to work the next day just to rewatch the game a few more times. Such an amazing game...all the meanwhile seeing the shots of USCjr fans in -20 degree weather dancing to sandstorm...only to have their hearts ripped out 😅

That was 2 straight losses to UT...Spurrier in 2015...a mere week or 2 before our game QUIT midseason because he knew a 3rd straight whipping was coming and ole OBC couldn't handle it. Quitter 😂😭

I’m beginning to think Dan Mullen would not have done well here.

I'm not patting myself on the back because there were several on here who cautioned everyone about Mullen. Someone created the Mehlen joke. But, seriously, it wasn't about developing football players why some of us had reservations. It was other things including his recruiting, goofiness, and defensiveness. I have a very good friend who is a MSU alum and is close to the program, and he even said that Mrs. Mullen was the normal one.

Dan Mullen doesn’t handle losing or scrutiny well. I’d say the Tennessee job would’ve eaten him alive.
Oh yeah! Because Florida recruits itself…and he still sucks at it. And they may have a John Adams type in Gainesville…but he or she’s an outlier not the norm like in Knoxville and our dedicated hometown troll patrol. We even imported one with Ubben. 😒

In retrospect, one can’t really blame her for slobbering all over the available alternatives. 😏

You do realize that Southern Methodist University is, in fact, a private Christian school, right? TCU and SMU are only 40 minutes apart because Dallas and Fort Worth are basically sister cities.

Lubbock is the one way out in the middle of nowhere.

They may be sister cities but there ain't no way they're 40 minutes apart unless you're in a helicopter :cool:

Uhhh, that behaviour of kissing college players isnt normal.

There is an HBO behind the scenes for Gators. He confides in her for every decision. They have a very strange relationship

Hot Take: Outside of two unbelievably good coaching talents (Spurrier and Meyer) Florida is mediocre and I present Ron Zook, Will Muschamp and Dan Mullen as evidence.
Mullen won 10+ in his first 2 (and non-shortened covid) seasons and won the East last year. Florida fans are over the top spoiled if they want to get rid of him. I mean...Spurrier and Urban would spoil anyone, but they should grasp the notion they won't always have some top 3 coach at the helm. That's too much to ask. Most before this year were talking about him jumping to the NFL...god UF fans are idiots...I pray they fire him and go get a sharkhumper/Zook/Muschamp 2.0.

Cool story on that weekend.

My oldest daughter (then 4 yrs old) was dressed as Elsa for Halloween that year. It was absolutely frigid outside and the wind was howling. I asked her if she still wanted to trick or treat? Her response...

"Yep. The cold never bothered me anyway."

And off we went freezing our baguettes off.

Quick Poll: How many points do we score versus UGA? I don't know which way to lean, few, or many...
Being completely realistic with their absurd sideline to sideline defense and possibility our OL is still beat up...

30 if I'm being optimistic...that's enough to get a W with a great def performance.

More often than not - I think 14-24 would be about right...and that would still be 1-11 more points than they've allowed all season.

I think we could’ve scored on UGA if we were healthy. But since we’re not, I think it’ll look like every other uga game this year

I legitimately believe we have a decent shot if we can score 24. That is a big IF though, and assumes our defense can hold on in the 4th qtr.

I think we roll KY and win out except GA. 7-5 and I count that as a successful season. The portal and recruiting will be the true tale of long term success and continued growth.

Interesting that they still expect him back this season

If he comes back this season it could be a blessing in disguise. He gets two months off without taking a pounding and will come back just in time for the playoffs. And yes, with the win yesterday the Titans are virtual locks for the division and are still talented enough to beat the Jags/Texans.

He might come back and still finish the season as the rushing leader lol.

Georgia doesn’t allow people to run the ball on them very much and if Tennessee can’t run it on them the offense is sporadic at best (see Alabama and OM).
