That's what I'm unsure of. I think the investigation was a huge portion of it. Not knowing whether or not there would be a ban or huge penalties would be enough to keep a lot of players away and for good reason but I just don't know for sure. My worry is that no coach at UT has been able to generate hype since Jones. It's like he took the PR machine with him. Heupel is a damn good coach and is likable so where the hell is our PR machine?
ETA: Between Danny White and our fanbase we should be getting more traction. The OM game alone was golden regardless of the pearl clutchers saying it was a bad look.
Really don't think he was...just felt like a segue. He didn't say "nobody in Atlanta" he made a point to say "nobody in Georgia likes the color orange".think he was talking about the Stros.
This is the most we've struggled in recruiting in a long time. I think it's just the result of a perfect storm. I mean, even ******* Pruitt was able to bring in some good players, albeit by cheating, but still... We have our fifth new coach since Fulmer, with a staff that was mostly at UCF in their last stop and didn't have relationships with the top talent in this '22 class. We're under investigation from the NCAA because of Pruitt. And apparently our boosters haven't helped out much on the NIL side of things. So it's a lot of different things that add up to this just isn't going to be a great recruiting class on paper. (Yet to be seen on the field)
If we struggle next year in recruiting, then I'll start to worry about the recruiting prowess of this staff. In the mean time, DW needs to be on the phone with boosters and putting together a better NIL framework to attract recruits to Tennessee. This year will be what it'll be.
i blame @InVOLuntaryLots of reasons that recruiting this year has not been good. Next year will tell us so much more when it comes to recruiting.
