Give him credit. With the practice info he had, he picked the guy who had earned it. However, unlike his predecessors, he was not to stubborn to make a change when he needed to do so. Better result for us so far. You have to make decisions with info you have but good to change when info changes.

I'm going to have to play devils advocate here. He apparently has circulation problems, and we saw him put the ball on the ground 3 times (2 times just fell out of his hand) in the game last night.

He played a great game, but I did see those symptoms pop up. I don't think mid-40's will be a problem, though.

Ok..they have done way more with much less than anybody on here should have reasonably expected. They have vastly exceeded my expectations...and that is a good thing. It wasn't because I didn't have "faith"...it is because I recognize the reality of our roster situation.

We have fools on VolNation dragging Heupel and staff somewhere on VN right now for not winning the Pitt and and Ole Piss games...and for scoring too much too fast against Kentucky.

Well there's your problem... You've obviously mistaken me for a reasonable person. I thought I had shaken everyone of that belief.

I'm going to have to play devils advocate here. He apparently has circulation problems, and we saw him put the ball on the ground 3 times (2 times just fell out of his hand) in the game last night.

He played a great game, but I did see those symptoms pop up. I don't think mid-40's will be a problem, though.

I do agree FSU is make or break.

But I still think fans are dumb for not even giving a HC even a single down season. I hope UT fans remember this season if Hype ever has a major down year. They can happen to anyone (not named Saban). But I also hope they fire him tomorrow. Give me those Butch era UF teams all over again, Hype would slaughter them.

They think they’re getting Kiffin. I’m not sure I could survive having my hatred for both combined.

Really like UT’s position to take hold as #2 in the East. South Carolina, Mizzou, and Vandy are going nowhere. Florida is in disarray. Kentucky is plateaued. It’s a great chance for UT to get to that slot and that’s easily 9-10 wins. Think there’s a chance we can get there in the next year or two, depending on what happens in Gainesville.

I'd feel a lot better if we weren't the only team playing Bama every season.

Iirc UK's crossover is Miss St. UF gets up-and-down LSU. And so on. I'd just go ahead and pencil in us at #2 for the next 5 years if not for Bama. Shoot, we'd probably be 2nd at this very moment if we got to play anyone else from the West.

It's such a burden, dragging us down for going on 15 years. Granted, I'd hate to voluntarily ask out of it too - maybe the OU/TX additions will even things out. And then ofc Saban will retire and they'll go in the dumpster for a decade

Agree completely.

Some of the older farts on here will remember Joe Lee Dunn, the DC for OM, Arky, MSU and even USCe before they joined the SEC. There was never a play that he did not think he should blitz. Some games his method would dominate, others it would fail miserably. But you always knew you were in for a treat to watch it. He made being the underdog with less talent enjoyable and pulled off some upsets as a result.

So, DC Banks, go all Joe Lee Dunn on UGA. You and the team have zero to lose and everything to gain.

Just think of the SECCG...1997 iirc. Auburn sent the whole dang neighborhood on nearly every play. We did win, but it gave us problems.

It would definitely be an interesting strategy. I mean, we definitely will need TOs and sacks to have any shot.

We should also take the Kiffin/modern analytics strategy of going for essentially any 4th down near the 50. Gotta play a high-variance strategy and hope for the best. UGA would absolutely love if we play standard ball. They'll cream us in a zero-variance game...we need to amp up all the risk options we have available to us.

Yep.

Every single game has been entertaining.

I honestly can’t think of the last time I thought that.

2015 and 2016 teams had some great wins but some mind numbing and frankly boring losses… Arky 2015 and Bama 2016 come to mind, among others.

That’s not the argument. It’s about leading a program and i believe Tony can do that just like JH can. Ones scheming and play calling is maybe 25% of what it takes to be a successful HC. I don’t even know what we’re arguing tbh lol

I was disappointed initially because I thought Elliott would have more of an immediate recruiting advantage due to relationships built recruiting for Clemson. I am tickled with how things have panned out though.

Scheming and play calling are more than 25%, just ask Orgeron. Scheme and play calling mean way more in football than any other sport. This is what allows you to get some wins while you’re roster is thin. When everybody (esp recruits) see that you can win with what you’ve got, you will attract the Jimmy’s and Joe’s.

This . We just don't have enough horses right now and our defense has played a lot of snaps the last 3 games. Think it would excit the players if we could be successful on a couple early in the game. But don't see this team giving up until the last whistle.

There is not a single legacy program that would go through what we’ve gone through and still be so loyal. I remember LSU Freek and Spencer Hall talking about how tough it was to be LSU/UF fans circa 2016 and they really have absolutely no idea.
