There are other possibilities you know. Like LA said, HB could very well be our 2nd best option, but the competition is so close 1 - 3 that the coaches would rather ride with the two more experienced QBs and get HB a full year of development. He is still just a covid freshman.
True, but there are posters who have claimed HB is the best option. If he's the best option, then he should be playing, right?

I'm not claiming to "know" anything. I'm saying trust the coaches. At least until they give us reason not to trust them.
I'm not disputing that. You're also not the one dismissing a freshman because he hasn't won the job immediately.

Hank is acting like no QB's ever need time to develop. It's unreal.

i disagree
the Tote game will make it break us.
if we can run for about 5 upcoming & 150+ yards, we will have wide open receivers down the field for big plays. He won’t miss those open deep shots again.
Hope so. He needs to hit some deep shots this season. He makes those 2 throws last week and nobody is talking QBs today.

I wouldn’t say it’s “confidence” doesn’t matter who it was against he did generally throw to an open receiver and wasn’t afraid to throw to the middle of the field although it was a very small sample size.
It kind of does matter who it was against.

No you’re just fanboying again. Didn’t know it’s the end of the world to imply - focus on the 1st and 2nd QBs

We won that game by 32 points.
What does that have to do with him not seeing open receivers? I’m really not sure why you’re singling me out? I have agreed Milton should start. I said Bailey in limited action last year generally threw to an open receiver and had major flaws with the deep ball. I’m not arguing with anyone.

I'll never deny that I'm a fanboy.

I also don't claim to be a football expert. I've actually stated the opposite. I'm not.

But it's foolish to dismiss a guy who hasn't won the starting job as a freshman. Indisputable. He may never be anything here. Or he may be the starter at the end of the season or next year and go on to do big things.

I'm sure you knew that Nate Peterman would go on to get drafted and still have a job in the league, huh? He sure didn't do that as a freshman or as a sophomore.

We don't know what HB's going to be yet regardless of if he's 1st string or 3rd string in 2021. If you think you do, you're not an expert either

Lots of talk today about Pitt's defense. Heupel scored 45 and 34 against them in 2018 and 2019 respectively. Obviously our offense may not be on UCF's level yet, but there's lots of familiarity there on both sides.
The 2019 Pitt defense also had like 3-4 DL guys get drafted in the top 4 rounds btw the 2020 and 2021 drafts. Their defense this yr does not have that.

He did enough for us to win by 32 points. Now we'll see how he does against Pitt.

You added more to your original post.

I mean, it's apparent the coaches see Milton as the better option. Do you feel you know better than Josh Heupel?
I’m not saying HB should start? I haven’t. Milton yes played well enough to win but would you not say he needs to ply better to beat better teams?

Of course he needs to improve. That's true of every player at every position. Progression is something we've sadly lacked for years.

From what I can tell, the general consensus on this board about Milton's flaws are
- Needs to speed up decision making
- Overthrows the deep ball
- Doesn't run aggressively enough
- Locks in on his main receiver
- Doesn't see the field/open receivers (related to previous but could be mutually exclusive)

I don't think it reasonable to expect all of these to be cleared up or even "better" in the game against Pitt since it is a pretty sizable list and habits kick in when the pressure is on. Assuming all won't be better, which do we think would have the biggest impact? In other words, if CJH only works on say two things with Milton, what two would be the best for us, both overall and specifically against Pitt?

Deep ball accuracy and not seeing open receivers. On the first two drives he looked pretty sharp and accurate getting the ball to open guys. He was quicker early too. Part of me thinks once we felt comfortable that we could name our score he held the ball too long and tried to play backyard ball.
