Excuse me..he got better as he went and played a hell of a game the last game, especially considering how he was brought along and what he had to work with. It was a hell of a lot better game than your boy had against a jumped up HS team Thursday, with less real development going in..He did not do good last year…. He is unproven like the rest.
Yeah. I hope a lot of it was first game jitters. I think he has what it takes to be a good QB. I liked his decision making in the first quarter. Drops hurt our rhythm on a couple drives too.I'm not sure the deep ball accuracy can improve in a week, especially as play/pressure will likely be sped up against Pitt, but I would love to see it. I also think seeing the open receivers would be the biggest benefit.
Nah McGill. What HB did last year while being coached by Chris Weinke means everything. He's done.Excuse me..he got better as he went and played a hell of a game the last game, especially considering how he was brought along and what he had to work with. From what I can tell, the general consensus on this board about Milton's flaws are
- Needs to speed up decision making
- Overthrows the deep ball
- Doesn't run aggressively enough
- Locks in on his main receiver
- Doesn't see the field/open receivers (related to previous but could be mutually exclusive)
I don't think it reasonable to expect all of these to be cleared up or even "better" in the game against Pitt since it is a pretty sizable list and habits kick in when the pressure is on. Assuming all won't be better, which do we think would have the biggest impact? In other words, if CJH only works on say two things with Milton, what two would be the best for us, both overall and specifically against Pitt?

I believe those go hand in hand to an extent. If you speed up the decision making, you can afford (sometimes) to put some air under it. I wonder how much of that can be improved in these 10 days.Run aggressively and speed up decision making. Instead of sitting in the pocket for 5 seconds and letting the receivers complete their route, he needs to let it go with a little air under it so they can catch it in stride.
He has been really accurate on deep throws in practice so hopefully it was just a first game thing.I'm not sure the deep ball accuracy can improve in a week, especially as play/pressure will likely be sped up against Pitt, but I would love to see it. But you're not anti-Milton or anything.....Excuse me..he got better as he went and played a hell of a game the last game, especially considering how he was brought along and what he had to work with. I haven’t seen many arguing he’s the best option. Other than Uncle Dobrucky. Most see the potential of Milton and hope he develops, but think Bailey might throw the ball better. All we’ve ever heard about HB is “he throws a catchable ball.” A continued complaint about Milton is his lack of touch. Doesn’t mean he’s not the best option or HB is. Milton brings a lot of other factors. I see people arguing HB might be a better thrower. Haven’t seen many serious/regular posters here actually arguing for benching Milton for HB..True, but there are posters who have claimed HB is the best option. If he's the best option, then he should be playing, right?
