We need to accept that the roster is going to filled and reduced by transfers as a part of doing business from now on. The commits they sign will be subject to frequent movement elsewhere. Be prepared. The only things they will be loyal to are great NIL deals and immediate playing time barring a change in that rule.

Look at the difference #44 Campbell made in Ole Miss' D last night. Senior LB transfer from Maryland they handed the D calls to upon transfer. Kiff knows how this works and took advantage immediately.

Heup does as well - Milton is the QB. We have no idea what NIL deal was made or contemplated in the future for him to come to UT. We do know he was offered immediate opportunity to take the reins. He got first team reps right off the bat. Heup signed "his" guy. That's the way it is done now. Accept it and move on. The only way anybody else gets significant time is if Milton fails or gets injured.

As a result, view it more like the pros and less like the college player of yore. It will not be completely "show me the money", but the better recruits, transfers, and existing roster players will learn their value rather quickly. The coaching staffs will have to juggle the attitude and the rest to meet team needs.

So, if Levis can transfer into UK and start, probably make some coin, help turn around the awful UK O with a better scheme - all in one season - we need to be prepared and seek to do the same. That means not holding onto and playing a QB for perceived upside unless the team is really struggling. The game has moved on. The QB has to perform and improve the performance of the O. That's where we are with Milton and we will know more in a few more games.

HB is unlikely to get that same opportunity without injuries or melt downs from Milton and Hooker. If he moves on I wish him well and suspect he will find success in the right spot for him. T-Jackson will be the next starting QB for Heup in all likelihood. He can be molded into a Heup system QB from Day 1.

Done on the QB thing. Moving on until after the Pitt game.

i hear you on that last part especially. This bailey thing 24/7 makes me want to take a break from VN or just come back during/post game to check in. I really dont care who plays QB at Tennessee as long as we are winning again.

Exactly. I really think that is what most Vol fans feel. Some hangover from past coaching miscues, but ready to roll with whoever.

I hated the hire when it was first made but after studying up on JH I became excited about it…. I don’t if he can get us to a championship level but I do feel that he can make football fun again.

Baby steps. We are middle of the pack in the pecking order of SEC jobs these days so I’m not sure we can attract Super Coach right now. What we need is someone who can provide stability and get us a consistently relevant. And cross our fingers that they are a Dabo Swinney type who well out performs expectations.

I got to the Swain show late this morning, whatd Dillon gabriel say about heupel that they’re talking about?

"This has been the best two days since I’ve been on campus! UCF is a special place. Tomorrow is gonna be a great day!

This maybe? He tweeted it out right after Huepel left.

I hate sharing one of their articles, but I assume this is what they were talking about. Gabriel essentially said Heupel’s offense is too simple, Malzahn’s is fast but more complex.

He was pissed that Heupel constantly talked about family and was announced before he told the team.

Malzahns offense has never been complex though. Everybody in AU hated it. His offense has the worst route tree youve ever seen.

Gabriel mentioned the Georgia Tech game last year that he had a probably with. They passed for over 450 yards and had a total of 660 yards on offense.

Oh no! a disgruntled former player is questioning the offense that was number 1 in the nation and is the reason why he had sky high numbers. We should definitely listen and be concerned! We know Gus' offense is elite. It's not like he got fired in the SEC because his offense stunk and he couldn't develop a QB

LOL. I thought the same thing. Okay? why do something different?

"Hey guys, I know these routes are working, but we should definitely stop doing them and go to something else."

I'm not real sure how an offense is "better" because it's complex.

Gabriel is just talking **** cause he's in his feels. I doubt he ends up in the league, Gus doesn't really put many QBs in the league.

Tennessee media:
“The defense looks faster and more dialed-in because they’ve simplified the scheme from Pruitt’s defense.”

Also Tennessee media:
“Is Josh Heupel’s offensive scheme too simple to be effective in the SEC?”

And we saw how well Gus's offense was doing his last few years at Auburn lol. I'm not a huge sunshine pumper and agree his offense has struggled against good defenses, but he sounds butthurt.

The one thing yet to see is how his offenses do against elite defenses----when he has higher level SEC level talent (and I'm not talking about Mizzou)

Yeah, dude honestly just sounds super butthurt. Idgaf about anything he has to say.

Exactly. I think it was Tom Osbourne who said it best when he was asked why he kept running the same plays. "Cause they haven't stopped it yet."

Football is about scoring more points than the other guy, if you can do that with 1 play or 20 plays if you can do it with simple or complex it DOES NOT MATTER.
