Don't understand this at all. He was injured most of the year but when he was able to go he had gaping holes to run. Is he just looking for more money ?

I hate to speculate this but off the field issues is the first thing that comes to my mind. He would’ve been the starter going into next season so outside of missing home there’s no reason he would want to leave.

Or to screw us out of an extra spot. Couldn't wait to help his teammates?

The 'player flopping fake injuries issue' is solved easily with the injured player having to leave for rest of the series or even a number of minutes or plays. If Kiffin figures out another way of doing it - address it again even stronger. It's the height of hypocrisy to have players flop to rest the D and slow the tempo, but use the same type fast tempo O system on other teams.

That's Kiffin. What ever benefits Kiffin is OK in his mind. Never enters his head to question what he is doing even if it is legal or rule bending.

So, I guess Evans doesn't think he will get many carries next season or he is in the doghouse with Heup and cannot see his way out.

Oh well. Somebody will be thrilled to get his carries. How can you miss what you do not have anyway? The guy was injured and on the sidelines most of the season.

Not football related exactly. Academics are tough when you stay in one spot. Jumping around makes it easier. He had to move on one way or another

Could be any number of things. Looking for more money, maybe blames the offense for his injuries, home sick, thinks he can do better in a different offense, he woke up in a sour mood, free transfer year burning a hole in his pocket. Who knows with these kids? It doesn’t have to be logical.

This staff has to step up their recruiting efforts. '22 gets some what of a pass, but, current and HS players should love this offense. We will be fine without TE, but, its all about perception.

If he cant do the bare minimum to stay eligible at Tennessee after one semester, he might as well turn pro

That’s why this transfer doesn’t make sense. Just turn pro! Get drafted in the 7th round or be an UDFA and get to your 2nd contract as quickly as possible

Theories:

(1) Evans told coaches he is declaring for NFL and not playing for the rest of the year. He was asked to enter the portal first, so that we can get the maximum one-year bonus for portal replacements. He has no intention of going to another school and was just doing UT a solid.
(2) He was told that he is going to be academically ineligible at UT next semester/season. If he does not go to the draft, then this gives him options to find another school where he would be eligible.
(3) He plans to play college ball next season and thinks he lost the job.
(4) The coaches think he is malingering his injury and wanted to get rid of him.
(5) He's a headcase and constantly looking around. Keep in mind he committed, decommitted, and then recommitted coming out of JUCO.
