And then include all his transfers into the score, as you alluded to. Those classes he was taking 5-7 P5 transfers that didn't count. It's been some months since I looked at all that - but when I compared his classes while including transfer rankings his classes were undoubtedly the best in the AAC. The idea he doesn't recruit is simply unfounded. These were the following recruiting rankings for UCF within the AAC:
2016 (Frost)- 4th
2017 (Frost)- 1st
2018 (Heupel hired 2 months before)- 2nd
2019- (Heupel)- 1st
2020- (Heupel)- 7th but only signed 20 and had the 4th best average player rating; also one recruit from this class had almost 900 scrimmage yards this year and another was 2nd in tackles
In the AAC, there are only a few (or less) 4 stars signed altogether in the conference each year. So, it's about who can sign and develop the best 3 stars.
Heupel also took Daavid Wilson from UGA and Brandon Johnson from UT, both who were contributors on this year's team. Johnson led in scoring.
I am not worried yet because we know the ones coming will get developed. I am fairly certain that Clemson started its dominance with classes that were not in the top 7.
