Ultimately the closest we've been to hiring a "Day 1 winner" at HC was Dan, but even then folks were split on if he was even that guy.

I like what I have seen & heard so far about this staff. But I feel like it's a 2-3 year build to be a consistent 8 win team.

Had we not had the mass exodus of players, we probably are in a better spot.

I think the thing with Hooker is that he is going to throw picks because he throws soft. That said our WRs can catch those balls and so far they've had a hard time handling Milton's passes even when they're perfect. IDK where we are at QB other than knowing it's a real problem. I think Hooker can be serviceable in most games though.

Hot take –

We did a lot better today than I thought we would – even if we’d been at 100% at running back. I thought our running game was still suspect but between Milton & Hooker we got some yards on the ground.

Our passing game picked up once Hooker took over. The interception at the end is a high probability when you’re playing from behind.

Pitt is not a good rushing offense and our run defense was top 10 last week. It will still be top 10 after this week.

I think our pass defense needs a pass rush. If BY is as advertised he’ll be a huge help to our back end.

Mistakes and discipline issues are fairly common for teams with a first year staff.

I thought Pickett would be the difference in this game along with the fact that this was a well-established team under Narduzzi.

We could have won the game. That surprised me. Even though we lost I think there were a lot more positives than I would have expected.

We need more bodies.............now.

Looked nervous. Also seemed like The defense stacked the box more on him. He was more accurate but I don’t feel like we found our qb with him in there. Personally I would go back to Milton and keep working with him. At least he forces the defense to space out. It helps our run game and I would give him a few more designed runs. We hoped It would be over when JG transferred but here we are again.

Dude. Pitt played an excellent game. We would’ve loved to have QB play like that any time over the past 5 years. They weathered a huge storm at the beginning, and executed their way to a great win. Lots of positives on our side as well. Lots to work on, but a lot to be optimistic about.

It’s really clear that Milton has a ton of upside and all the tools. he just has deep ball accuracy issues.
0 to 15 yards he is the best QB on the roster.

Hooker - has great feet but his accuracy is questionable at best.

Bailey - i guess he sucks at practice.

In the right offense, sure he could be ok, but I dont think he fits what we wanna do. Like I said earlier, we saw this offense with a QB like Bailey in Worley.

Here’s some numbers for you..

Milton and Hooker were sacked 5 times who are a lot more mobile than Bailey.. don’t insult everyone’s intelligence saying Bailey is mobile enough, he’s not…

Without Milton’s and Hooker’s rushing numbers, Small had 18 yards on 8 carries and Wright had 15 on 11 carries.. for a grand total of 33 freaking yards.. that’s with a true dual threat handing them the ball.. you think HB helps those numbers?
