We did plenty to deserve to lose the game but have to love how they competed to come back. The worst part is the refs took the end out of the players hands. Not saying we would’ve won, but at least let the players decide. Love Heupel going for it on fourth down twice in OT.

I didn’t like the going for it twice, showed he had no confidence in our Defense.

I'm disappointed in college football overall, for allowing this type of officiating to continue.

Every year my love for college football grows colder and colder. Honestly, I’m at the point I rarely watch a game that doesn’t contain the Vols. College football has been ruined over the last decade by a multitude of things; horrible refs being one of them.

Defense had nothing to do with our offense. They lull themselves because they can’t get off the field

All 20/20 hindsight and I thought he called and coached a fantastic game overall

As long as folks are watching on TV and butts are in the seats, I don't expect officiating to get any better. The conferences seem complacent with officiating as it is and the people over at the NCAA are too clueless to step in and fix it themselves.

On the first and goal in OT, HH has to have a faster mental clock, if the first two options are not there, then throw the ball away. He tried to roll out and got sacked

The good thing is Heupel knows Hooker is his QB this off-season and can scheme him up. Had to kind of do it on the fly this year with him starting game 3.

Interesting comment was made on 104.5 in Nashville prior to the UT pregame show: One of the guys from A-Z Sports said HH did not get a high draft grade plus CJH told HH he would have to earn his job if he came back, it wouldn't be given to him. Not sure I believe it but I could see CJH telling HH (and everyone) that they would have to earn their starting roles next year.

I don't disagree with this completely because it is sometimes true. I think it tends to be overstated, though. Often times this season the defense failed to help itself by getting off the field on third down. Need some dudes badly at all three levels.

Ok, certainly won't argue there. The question is what is the cause? Players? Defensive Coordinator, scheme?

Fun season, Heupel is a heck of an offensive coach. Has a ways to go to learn how to build an entire team and make the wise calls during the game. Not sure why, but that was as tough a loss as any this season. Just figured we were healthy and could roll. Need a break for awhile.

I didn’t have confidence in our defense. Thought it was a good call. We can all look back and say we would do things differently.
