I think the offense will be in good hands as long as he’s here. The top level defensive coaches in this league will definitely adjust to what we do though. I’m not convinced that style of offense can beat the Bama’s and Georgia’s of the world. We can bend some of these lesser programs over with it, just don’t know about the big boys.
You start by playing better defense. Can't give up 41 to uga and 51 to bama, have constantly bad field position, etc and hope the offense can just overcome it.

Defense plays better on 3rd down and we score 30+ vs Bama.

UGA...well we scored more than anyone did all season outside of an equally talented Bama team.

Scheme can only take you so far. We need to get within even 2-3 points/player average recruit, then we'll have a chance. The current gap between us and Bama is 6 points/player average recruit (94 vs 88). That is the same gap between us and MTSU. That's not something scheme can reliably overcome.

Guys like you are who will be wanting to fire him after he wins 7 or 8 games in years two and three, because you’ll be expecting him to win 9 or 10. Emotional thinkers
Nope. Guys like me are the last to admit when a coach needs to be fired. Guys like me know not every win and not every loss are equal. Injuries, officiating, and a lot of other things are beyond the control of a coach.

Totally agree

I'm not an engineer, but the technology exists...sensors, field, motion, collision detection, AI and machine learning, etc. If we can have self-driving cars or send a man to the moon, I'm certain engineers and others can figure this out. And the financial incentive is there for someone to do it.

I'm not sure how you can ensure unbiased or honest refs. Especially in the days of widespread, legal sports betting there's such an easy path for crooked guys. Though, fwiw, this isn't even my main concern. It's that human refs are simply not good enough at their jobs, at any level. The error rate is far too high and will never get better. Like humans driving cars...we are not inherently good enough to have an acceptable rate of mistakes.
There is no way to do that, basiccommon sense tells you that and why, a penalty would be called on every damn play on both sides of the ball...

I know you are in love with and can't wait to sell all of us out to SkyNet..but I will stick with regular old humans, I just want professionals with integrity.

Bama beat UGA by throwing all over them.

All those cincy doesnt belong folks...lol

Bama will still likely walk away with it, sure. Talent eventually takes over typically. But they've proven they "belong" imo. They could have taken michigan or uga very well too.

I think to make kickoffs more entertaining I think once the ball hits the ground it should be a live ball-even if it rolls into the endzone, say it rolls from field of play to out of the back of the endzone it should be a safety

Similar offenses under Freeze and Malzahn have given Bama trouble for years. My biggest concern is recruiting defence; although you can really rack up stats given that the defence is on the field so much

Thus machine learning. You tell it the parameters...you show it a penalty vs not and give it ranges of acceptability/flexibility and it adapts. You test it and test it and test it until it is many times better than human refs. And only then you unleash it.

Professional refs are still bad at their job. And it ISN'T their fault. Humans just aren't capable (enough) for acceptable error rates. No different from driving. No shame in that. We just need, with jobs on the line and kids' and programs' futures on the line...a better solution than the same old human errors every game, at every level, every year after year for eternity.

I really like Heupel’s offense. It’s great. It’s fun. It scores a ton of points.

But it has some negatives for me. It’s hard to put away games if you don’t execute as you will have several bad 3 and outs that put you in tough spots.

I think the pros out way the cons.

I think if you execute well you blow out the other team but if you sputter like last night you let a team back into it and it’s harder to get back control.
