I DO NOT CARE...those defenses should have been legendary...not just really good...especially 98 and 2001.

I was never a Chavis fan.

I guess you think you’re smarter than everybody else then. You think Fulmer was terrible as well. Even though he was responsible for the most successful decade in Tennessee history. Tennessee will never sniff that sort of success in this lifetime.

I doubt we have as good of an offense next year. Seems as if we have one of the best offensive coaches in the game, but some of the best defensive coaches in the game reside in this league as well. They’ll adjust to this offense, and Heupel will have to as well.

There’s no proof though that defensive coaches can adjust. Maybe a game or two here or there. But he’s literally had top offenses every year he’s been a head coach.

I think the offense will be in good hands as long as he’s here. The top level defensive coaches in this league will definitely adjust to what we do though. I’m not convinced that style of offense can beat the Bama’s and Georgia’s of the world. We can bend some of these lesser programs over with it, just don’t know about the big boys.

How in the actual hell does that work? There is no f'n system. What we need is professional unbiased officials with integrity. I believe there were at least two guys on that crew that made a ton of money from Vegas.

I'm not an engineer, but the technology exists...sensors, field, motion, collision detection, AI and machine learning, etc. If we can have self-driving cars or send a man to the moon, I'm certain engineers and others can figure this out. And the financial incentive is there for someone to do it.

I'm not sure how you can ensure unbiased or honest refs. Especially in the days of widespread, legal sports betting there's such an easy path for crooked guys. Though, fwiw, this isn't even my main concern. It's that human refs are simply not good enough at their jobs, at any level. The error rate is far too high and will never get better. Like humans driving cars...we are not inherently good enough to have an acceptable rate of mistakes.

Dang. Read a lot of crap since last night.
1. ALL good coaches self scout and self evaluate, especially in the Off Season. No one wants to improve more than they do.
2. ALL good coaches continue to study the game and seek to learn and grow if they have any longevity in the game. (37 years in, still studying, talking to other coaches ,etc.)
3. If you think you have some insight on an area of need, a certain player, or anything like that, you don't.
4. WB is a VFL. He didn't play well, but he played his ass off not knowing what he was or wasn't allowed to do based on the officiating. Those who are trashing him on here need to check themselves. Have know Coach Martinez for years and he will get these guys better.
5. Overall yall are the BEST fans in the world. GO VOLS!!

Did I tell you guys that when I first moved to the Carolinas 7 years ago I got into home poker games and met a bookie. Started sports betting again. Lost thousands because I suck at sports betting. Quit cold turkey and haven’t had the urge for years.

I was salivating at the Tennessee -5 line. Felt as sure a thing as ever.

Legit tried reaching out to the bookie I hadn’t talked to in 6 years because I wanted to lay a 4K wager on the game.

Fortunately for me he died in 2019 so I couldn’t make the bet.
