I mean.... Aaron Beasley was our staying lb.We need better innovation at that position. Made no sense why we didn’t pressure. Wish we could find the next young stud at the DC position.
There is a magic wand, it's called getting off the field. It's called gambling on defense. If they're going to score anyway why not gamble? Maybe you cause a turnover. If they score anyway at least they haven't played 50 plays by the end of the first quarter. Quit blaming these kids for everything. Maybe the lack of talent is at the DC position.
If I’ve got his personality pegged correctly, he does not have enough self awareness to be embarrassed by his poor play. He is the type to blame it on everyone else every time.I think Rattler will be good, tbh. He's got motivation after losing out so publicly. I wish it weren't so but I don't see how he isn't an immediate improvement given they had no one.
Everyone else has backed their stats as well…. You just choose to ignore them…. Half those stats you showed….. the coaches have stated don’t matter…… they want to cause negative plays….. succeeded in TFL’s….. average in sacks…… wanted to cause turnovers which they were average….. force field goals instead of touchdowns which they did for the most part in the bowl game until the putrid fourth quarter….. on the season I felt the defense played above their heads against Bowling Green, Pitt besides the second quarter in which they played backups…. It was also one of the last time that they used many of the backups…done what they should do against Tennessee tech…. Played way above their head against Missouri…. Played above their head against South Carolina….way above their head against Ole miss…played above their head against Georgia and Alabama…played good against south Alabama.Am I not allowed to have an opinion? Just because I have no confidence in his abilities do I just need to stfu? I've backed my stance up with facts. No one can dispute them, all that anyone can do is make excuses.
I agree that is a huge issue and feel we have issues at all 3 levels to varying degrees….. I think not having backups that they trusted to go into the game was also one of our biggest issues….. Hopefully….. our guys can improve and our overall team will be better. They needed a complex scheme like the one Pruitt ran. When we never knew where to line up half the time. I respect all these concerns but the Defense, just like the Offense, will expand the Playbook in Year 2 when they have from now until Spring ball to do installs. The part that takes the longest is getting all of the Coverages and Checks to a level of comfort where you can react more and think less. Lack of speed at the Safety position limits what you can do across the entire back end and that to me is the biggest issue.
Cmon Soda. You know you have to declare success or failure by the second game of coach’s tenure with this bunch. Then the verdict must be adjusted every other game. If you don’t beat Bama by second season, he’s obviously a failure. No, all I am really trying to say is it is too soon to make a decision especially with talent available. Anything right now is just a guess. But you are on record, and I will try to remember who said it. But I am old with too much going on so you’ll probably have to remind me.
They rushed 4-5 guys 90% or the the snaps. I know I'm probably too stupid count but I'm pretty sure I can get to 4 or 5. Rushing 4-5 guys is not gambling or aggressive style of defense that we were told we were getting.I don’t think there’s a person with an IQ over 80 and a basic understanding of football that thinks our problem is a lack of “gambling”. Saying we have a talent and depth problem isn’t “blaming the kids”. It’s just stating a fact. They didn’t poop in the pool. They’re just not big or fast enough to keep up with good teams, and we don’t have the depth to play at full speed to play a hundred snaps.
Both sides of the ball lost a ton, both sides had experience along the LOS. One side overachieved, and the other side looked like vomit.I mean.... Aaron Beasley was our staying lb.
Safeties weren't very good. Corner was ok on one side. And our depth in the dl was non existent.
But sure, lack of innovation was definitely am issue...
It was first year this defense was implemented. We were short handed to start the year and then injuries also came in to play. Why not wait until this time next year instead of just trying to win a debate?
It looks like he's gonna have to slow it down when he gets in the red zone. Playing fast there is not really a good thing because the field is too short for explosive plays. We seem to shoot ourself in the foot playing fast down inside the 20.I really like Heupel’s offense. It’s great. It’s fun. It scores a ton of points.
But it has some negatives for me. It’s hard to put away games if you don’t execute as you will have several bad 3 and outs that put you in tough spots.
I think the pros out way the cons.
I think if you execute well you blow out the other team but if you sputter like last night you let a team back into it and it’s harder to get back control.
