I'm educated enough to know that sitting g back in zone and not covering anyone and putting all the pressure on a secondary that couldn't cover Betty White (RIP) while rushing 4 or 5 DL that can't get to the QB having to take on 5 OL and a tightend and/or a RB probably isn't the smartest thing to do. I know that sitting back and allowing a team to continuously beat your defenses' brains in by methodically marching down the field on 20 play 10 min drives consequently wearing your defense down making it easier and easier for them to do more of the same probably isn't all that bright. I know that other teams would love for their offense se to methodically move down the field keeping out high power offense over on the sidelines watching the defense continuously giving up 3rd down conversions, even long ones is a fabulous idea. I know continuing to do whatever you are doing that places your defense at over 100 in several statistical categories is probably not the best strategy. I know that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

I'm tired of arguing with you folks. It's a pathetic showing on defense. If you're good with it or somehow can justify/excuse it, good for you. There is no arguing that the defenses was an embarrassment. You guys continually throw these kids under the bus and give these millionaire coaches a pass. I ask myself one question when judging coaches, did they produce a product that was greater than the sum of the parts? If you think he did, good for you. I think he failed miserably.

So what do you say about a UTAH DC that allows over 600 yards and 48 points or an OSU DC that has had two consecutive bad games and allowed a WALK ON QB to drive the ball down the field for a tying TD when fielding a defense that has twice as much talent as UT. Face it, you want to be right so you can pound your chest and say "I told you so"... Tooo bad you are not a coach.

The defense was shorthanded going into the game so I’d say that was sorta the game plan. A. Taylor / B. Turnage / K. George Jr. I’m gonna say I think a QB. With 77% completion had to be another reason for sitting back and letting him throw to coverage. He had three INT. and it could’ve been five or more. They had some very fortunate things go there way NOT including penalties. I’m with you on not getting to the QB. I was pretty pissed about it and wondered where in the hell is such n such.
I've never claimed he had all the.parts. I've not been impressed all year. Statistics bear that out. Like I said earlier, do you think he's gotten everything out of the talent at his disposal? If so, that's your prerogative. I don't, I think the defense has underachieving. Eveybody is free to blame whatever they want. They're free to be accepting of whatever level of play they feel is appropriate given the talent level. I ha e zero confidence he's got what it takes to be successful long term here.

Streaming isn't an option for me, I live in an area with no internet service and I refuse to pay for extras, it takes away from our family's ability to take in rescues on the farm.

When star link gets really going I plan on looking into it.

I have been thinking about the poor calls we have been getting. It could be that officials dislike us because we go so fast and it forces them to go fast. As game wears on, they wear down and are more likely to make mistakes.
If they are not in shape, they may resent our style of play. Just a thought
They are bent

Both sides of the ball lost a ton, both sides had experience along the LOS. One side overachieved, and the other side looked like vomit.
Was there anyone that didn't know/expect the defense to not be great? Anyone not know/expect that the pieces left on offense were waaay better than the pieces left on defense?

Blaming the defensive coordinator for this year's defense is just lazy.

I'm not concerned with either of thise teams. I will.counter by saying Purdue isn't in the same stratosphere as either of those teams.

I'm not saying I completely buy into what he's saying but there were some very odd blitz packages I noticed. When we did blitz it was typically a slow evolving stunt or bringing a lb around the outside edge. What I know from my limited football knowledge is you affect a pocket QB's throws with pressure from the middle where he sees it. When we did that we rushed throws and registered more success. When we sat back in coverage we got torched.

He's not wrong entirely. It's ok to have a defensive philosophy and want to stay true to that. It's another to pound a square peg into a round hole. Sometimes you gotta bend your philosophy to protect the defenses weaknesses. There's a happy medium. And to suggest that Banks didn't do a great job of that is fair imo. Perhaps he can self scout make better adjustments with the roster/talent he has next year.
Should be glad with 7 wins and could or should have been more. Offensively we are pretty good right now and less than a year here on the job impressed and fun to watch. Defensively we are not a 7 win team and it showed BUT we knew where we were from the get go so to say it is scheme etc. yes and no BUT we were dealing with a deck of cards stacked against that never been played/coached/taught right in any of these players years and do love the players and there heart but the talent is lacking for what they may want/scheme etc. So imo we will see and the verdict really is still out.

We were 117th in first downs allowed
We were 120th in red zone defense
We were 122nd in passing yards allowed
We were 60 (woo hoo) in rushing defense
We were tied for 32nd about 10 other teams for interceptions.
We were 103 in 3rd down defense
We were tied for 54th in 4th down stops
We were tied for 42nd in sacks
We were tied for 103 in recovered fumbles
We were tied for 90th in scoring defense
We were tied 98th for total defense

I didn't see the stat for TFL but it sounds like we were good there so we've got that going for us.

We literally sucked at every meaningful defensive category that I could find. We couldn't stop the run. We couldn't stop the pass. We couldnt sack the QB. We couldn't get off the field on 3rd down or 4th down. I can't believe the excuses that you guys have for Banks. It as Sunseri level bad. Vandy was statistically better, significantly, on many of these stats.

I'm not calling for the guy to be fired but tied ignore how pathetic this defense was is burying your head in the sand.

Sunseri level bad is not knowing how to line up and the front 7 expecting zone but the db's are running man.

Also not watching and analyzing how they progress or didn’t along with lackluster recruiting outside of DL and relying on that take is lazy

There were a lot of questions on both sides of the ball. Not so sure we had more known commodities on offense as opposed to defense. Many of our biggest contributors in offense were transfers this year save the offensive line and wr's.

I agree the verdict is still out. I'm not out on him, I've just seen some things that cause some concern. Hopefully he can adjust our being in the pieces needed to do what he wants philosophically.

So you ignore the question because it doesn't fit your agenda. I would say Utah had less talent that OSU yet still OSU looked like trash in the game. Purdue beat Iowa by 2 TD's . I don't think one season is a fair judgement for any coach as they should have at least 2 -3 seasons to get the players to fit their system. Have a question for you, did you play ball and if so, what position.? I played both wr and db and always thought defense was harder because you have to react and read more keys than an offensive player.

No infrastructure for fiber here, will be a year or two they say. Was quoted 13k by Charter/spectrum to run the needed cable to my home.

Edit: I did fill out that inquiry though, what could it hurt right?

Well, he was something like 26-36 after 5 seasons. He had a losing record last year and going into this year I believe he still had an overall losing record there. If he was here he wouldn't have made it past that 5th season and certainly would not have lasted to see this year. And you would have been one screaming for him to be fired.

He took over a dumpster fire Kentucky team that was dead. They were patient with him and what he’s built is impressive.

I’m not suggesting he’s some great coach or that Kentucky is amazing. But what they are doing is impressive. They’re a better program than we are right now and that sucks to say. Better seasons. Better bowl games. Better recruiting classes.

I was bummed after our MCB performance but I trust in Heupel and I think he’ll get us turned around. But IMO we’d be lucky to have a ten win season in the next couple years.

Kentucky was good this year. They’re gonna be good next year. What used to be a gimme game for us is now a stress game. Sure we’ve won most of our recent ones but too many times they go to the wire. Goal line stand two years ago. Crazy sequence to end this year. Etc.

IMO Tennessee fans refusing to give them credit or dismiss what they’ve done is foolish.

What stats? I've seen nothing that doesn't show below average results. Zero, nada, zilch. One person said if you an average statistic were actually about 75, which is slightly better than Vandy.

As to your trends did you pick up a pattern? We got worse as the year went on. We got worse.

You can spin it anyway you want, you can blame the players, you can justify it any way you want, the defense was pathetic.
Our defensive efficiency index rating was 74th in the country. Our defensive drive efficiency ranked 94th. Our defensive available yard percentage ranked 80th. Our defensive yards per play ranked 36th in the country. Our defense was bad but using basic box score stats that do not take into account opportunities to label it as "pathetic" is a reach. We even had some decent stats, our havoc rate was middle of the SEC.
