I remember some Tennessee fan asking why Ohio State didn't hire Schiano after Meyer left if he was so great, and an Ohio State fan responding "We're Ohio State. We don't hire coordinators like you do." Then they hired a coordinator that wasn't Greg Schiano and I was left super confused.
They actually hired a good coordinator

Is that if they fire him or if he leaves? Usually those big numbers are if they’re fired.
Not sure. That number was being thrown around when we were talking the possibilities of him getting poached for LSU or Florida. It kept getting mentioned that there was no way anyone would touch him with that high of a buyout.

Maybe not in the long term but they would lose some key players to the portal in the process. Change is good for others when teams at the top go they it. No guarantee Fickel can handle the pressure at his alma mater either. I think he can but it’s no guarantee. It’s a different element coaching your alma mater. Doesn’t always end well…

True. He was there from 2002-2016 tho. I'm sure he knows about its stresses.

He may rather build where he is and do his own thing. More power to him if so. However, it would be hard to imagine that if OSU put the squeeze on him that he would turn it down.

College football ratings will fall through the floor if this keeps going like it is.... people will stop watching when only 4 teams win every year....
Most fans know there team will never win a championship in their lifetime and they still watch. It’s the best sport going and it isn’t close.

Ohio State will have a press conference to announce Fickell immediately after they announce Day to Chicago.. it will be interesting to see what Michigan does.. Butch still interested??? 😂😂😂 I hope they take Stoops to watch UK burn down.. Kiffin will throw his name in the ring..
Kiffin would throw his name in the ring for PoleAssassin's monkey trainer.

Hey man. Can you get your boy Aranda to give a few clinics at UT. That Baylor defense was filthy. Their team tackles so physical and well overall.
Can we change the way we evaluate coaches for once and give it more than one year before we crown a coach the latest genius? We've done it time and again, only to be proven wrong. (Schiano and one great year at Rutgers anyone?)

Aranda may turn out to be the next Saban. Or he may not be. I'm reserving judgement until at least a few years. But his defense? Before he came to Baylor he was the DC at LSU. Check out how much that defense improved over his few years there. Or digressed.

I’m pretty sure stoops buyout is something ridiculous like 19 or 20 million. He’s not going anywhere.

Mark Stoops’ buyout remains unchanged
While Kentucky increased its financial obligation to Stoops in the new contract, the money Stoops would owe the university for leaving for another job does not change. Per the terms of his 2019 extension, Stoops would owe Kentucky $1.75 million for leaving at any time there are five or more full years left on the contract. That buyout decreases to $1.65 million if four full years are left on the deal, $1.55 million if three full years are left and $1.5 million if one or two full years are left.

Aranda has already proven to be a defensive guru. Like you said, don't evaluate a coach on a short period of time.

Also, they were top ten in defensive efficiency in 18/19, so you can't really even say those years were bad.

😂😂😂

Hey you can pretend like you had CJH at the top of your list, but the first week after he was hired was not exactly a bright week around here.

That being said I was and still am in “wait and see” mode with him. A lot of positives so far and if he and Banks can get the defense to be at least serviceable I’ll be fully on board for him as a long term solution.
