Hooker is going to turn it over. I guess it is preference for either missing long scoring chances or possibly giving it up.

Statically speaking... that's actually more true for Milton.

Hooker for his career has 8 INTs (counting yesterday) in 23 game appearances. But what I think is impressive about him is with his mobility he's only been sacked 35 times (and 3 of those came behind our swiss cheese looking line yesterday)
Milton for his career has 6 INTs in 15 game appearances. Seems he gets sacked a bit less often (more willing to give up and throw it away) having only been sacked 12 times.

But if you look at those numbers in a per game manner. Milton throws a pick every 2 games, Hooker is closer to every 3 games. Milton's career completion so far 55.6%, Hooker 63.8% and the biggest difference to me is scoring. Milton has accounted for a total of 11 TDs passing & rushing, Hooker 39.

I couldn't find good data on fumbles.

This 100 percent and why I still want to see a healthy Milton. They have to respect he might can hit it. Can't play as much press coverage and just creates tons of opportunities and he can still hurt with his legs. You got to keep running with him if he is healthy. I could be wrong but after watching two games live, you just see it. OL has to do better.
Hopefully bring Cooper back fixes a lot of things. I dunno why we had Ollie at center when we could just slide Carvin over like last game….

We made that adjustment against Bowling Green and then abandoned it versus Pitt…. Dunno what that was about

Milton will as well, they don't trust him to throw anything but boundary and the long ball. The only reason he hasn't thrown more picks is because 80% of his passes were home run misses nobody had a prayer of catching.

He is throwing what he’s been taught to read. It’s not all what the staff wants him to do. In man coverage, our offense goes deep.

Milton hasn’t thrown an INT yet, so my previous statement still stands. The offense runs smoother with him, but it’s up to the coaches to figure it out.

We didn’t look bad. Great start. Too many penalties and Joe left so many points on the field. You can’t expect to put the defense out there that long and not give up that many points. We didn’t lose to Jacksonville State.
Our defense was outstanding, given what was asked of them.

That’s a false narrative….. the university has been trying to win but just continually make bad hires…. We finally went out and got one of the best in the business to run the athletic department….
our fans have not been doing their best…. We are known more for raising h&ll then anything supportive….. I haven’t sit in my actual seats in years bc people would rather stay at the house…. First game…. I was front row at the 50 yard line of the second part on the lower level…. The Pitt game I went under the overhang for shade…we are not freaking Vandy fans…. We need to show up and show out to help us win and recruit.

Fan blaming is total BS. Fans have filled that stadium through the last two decades of $&¡7 and mediocrity at best. In fact, we’ve been more tolerant than any SEC fanbase outside of Vandy or the state of Mississippi would have been. But that could only be sustained for so long In the face of perpetual screwups by the UT higher ups. I don’t like it anymore than anyone else, but 100% not the fans’ fault.

Johnny Majors lost to a terrible Rutgers team in year 3 of a rebuild. A loss to a middle-of-the-road P5 team in year 1 is nothing in comparison.

I will quietly sit back and watch to see how this plays out before making any judgments.

I am not going to be able to be in here at all on gamedays this year I guess. If we can't consider the facts that we are having to completely gut and rebuild our football program....again.... and we just don't have the pieces this year to be what we all want the team to be then we can't have any productive conversations. I am a positive outlook kind of guy. So every week I go into the game thinking there is a chance but I don't expect much from this team in year 0. I will give CJH time and lots of it, because I think he can stabilize this ship and put us back in a better spot, but he can't do it overnight. We knew going into this year that we were thin in many positions yet some act surprised when our 2s and 3s aren't All Americans. I will cheer for this team because they played hard and didn't quit. If the lights come on for several key spots I still see a road to 6 wins. The most important factor for me will be do they improve over the year and I fully believe they will.

Honestly, just still really disappointed...sucks. Really, really need to get to 6-6 and a top 15 recruiting class this year or else it won't get better.
Maybe the boys needed that loss yesterday to light a fire under their butts? I’d rather lose to Pitt then drop an SEC game because we didn’t have these lessons the other day.

E. is ******** to the max. BasketVOLs are selling out TBA most games this year, BaseVOLs have more fans than seats at the current stadium and the Lady Vols in basketball & softball also get plenty of support.

If you build the product, the fan support will be there hands down.
Yes people will show up if we win 10 + games but don’t want to be part of building the program.
The baseball thing is a good example…. Most people barely knew we had a baseball program but when we won enough…. Those people started getting tickets and knocking the ones that had been supporting them the whole time if they didn’t have season tickets.

It's adrenaline. In practice he's safe and calm. In games he's jacked. They should probably practice live more often. More risk, but would give him a chance to calibrate the long throws in game-like intensity.

We need to be patient and let JH build….. if there wasn’t a Johnny majors building and stabilizing the program then the 90’s and especially 98 never would have happened.

Hooker and Milton are who they were at their old schools. They both lost their jobs during season. Milton still has no touch on his throws. Hooker throws a weak ball. I just want whichever QB gives me the best chance to win. I'm not sure it's either of them. If I had to choose out of those two, probably Hooker.

Watching yesterday was a rollercoaster of emotions. We played like crap and still should have won that game. It probably shouldn't have been close. Pitt is a middle of the road team.

Milton did start putting touch on his passes before he was injured actually. But, he had those terrible misses early

I just don’t think you can use many of those numbers in a completely different offense. Speculation, but I’m not sure Milton throws the last pick that Hooker does. IMO, Hooker scares me more throwing than Milton does right now.

Think Carvin played C the whole game...I know they rotated Ollie and Harris at guard though. Assuming neither was doing enough to "earn it"

We for sure got left holding the bag a bit with the OL I really expected Chaney/Friend to have at least gotten some progress from a few of the guys but damn. I'm getting the vibe most of the previous positional coaches were "going through the motions" with Pruitt's micro-managing they probably just turned into Yes men to shut him up. We are actually pretty damn lucky that Cade & Wright decided to stay around. I hope it pays off big time for both of them as well.

Reality is I need to see sustained growth throughout season. That’s the most important thing to me right now

I agree with this. If Heupel is the right coach, you'll see improvement. My biggest question is how you define improvement. Improvement will be a change of trajectory before it's a change of results.

Now is not the time to panic. Based on our depth and talent we’re a 5 win team. It was that way before the season began and is still the same. I thought this was obvious but now remember some of the 8 or 9 win predictions from a couple weeks ago.
Lol I’ll always predict more wins that 50/50 no matter what. Doesn’t hurt my feelings if we don’t get there I just like to be optimistic.

Yeah he looked like a deer in headlights out there…. Got the job done but he does worry me.

I’m ashamed of volnation….. we talk a big game but don’t back it up….. we expect extreme commitment and loyalty from our players but can’t be bothered to show up and support them…. The crowd yesterday was embarrassing and could have made a difference in the game.
After the last decade and a half, 70 or 80 thousand is reasonable.

It's time to stop blaming fans for this University's crap.
