Milton is who he is. Two games in and he is the same player he was at Michigan. Can’t keep trying to fix an old dog when the old dog is growing.
People are sometime slow to understand the simple things. Any player, in the transfer portal, is there for a reason. The only player I would take out of the portal is a grad transfer who was a starter at their previous school.

Before everyone gets their panties in a wad----we lost some good players in the portal because of recruiting violations. If Milton could have cut it at Michigan, he would still be at Michigan.

I'll just say this. I want this offense to either be on the field moving the ball OR scoring points, right now in 2 game samples with Milton the passing game has done neither. That's an objective fact.

Now can Milton eventually do one or both? I'm sure he can he wouldn't be here if he couldn't. But he also is behind the other QBs who were here for spring ball and I think we're seeing him handed an abbreviated gameday playbook because of it.

Hooker may not be the answer either, but at this point he's at least shown enough to warrant the opportunity to prove if he can or can't.

How would you guys like to be an FSU fan this morning? That 56 yard touchdown they gave up as time expired was classic.

It's kinda comforting to know that other teams go brain dead too :):)

They're probably being told it's all their fault.

I don't blame fans for not coming to games, but unreasonable expectations from fans is destructive. Expecting a 3-7 Pruitt team decimated by defections to be great after 2 games is unreasonable. And yet here we are, with "fans" already talking about Heupel not being the guy. And yes, that does matter.

I don’t think anybody in their right minds expected more than .500 this year. I’d love to see Huepel reach .500 or better, just so we can say he did better than the last 3 clowns here. That is still on the table.

Tennessee is still top 10-12 all-time winningest college football program in the country. No self-respecting program with that rich of tradition is going to lose a winnable game without some grumbling, nor should they. And that Pitt game was winnable - any game against a team we outrank in most talent indexes is winnable, regardless of extenuating circumstances. Yesterday’s loss was just the latest in a long line of missed opportunities to fast track the rebuild. Nobody is burning mattresses over this loss, but nobody should be okay with it either.

This 100 percent and why I still want to see a healthy Milton. They have to respect he might can hit it. Can't play as much press coverage and just creates tons of opportunities and he can still hurt with his legs. You got to keep running with him if he is healthy. I could be wrong but after watching two games live, you just see it. OL has to do better.
Milton is not good. Watch his film at Michigan and now. He is still darting short throws and overthrowing the deep ball. He is who he is. If we keep playing Milton, we lose to Pitt by 2+ TDs. If we played Hooker all game, we win. Milton caused us to not be up 21-0. He is an athlete trying to play QB. People are wrapped up in his measurable instead of looking at how he is as a QB. He was 7-12 for 50 yards against Pitt. And 11-23 for 140 yards against a bad BG team. If we think he is the answer, we are in deep trouble.

Anyone revising their season record prediction?

I started the season at 7-8 wins.
After BG I dropped it to 6-7 wins.
After Pitt I'm dropping it to 5-6 wins.

I’m still solidly at 6. Pitt game went generally how I thought it would during preseason. Didn’t change my point of view.

With that said, the fight our team showed made me slightly more optimistic.

The team fought to the last whistle - they have shown a willingness to fight through adversity sooner in Heupel’s tenure than they did in Pruitt’s, Jones’s or Dooley’s.

The Florida game will be interesting. First year Florida was a debacle for each of the previous three coaches. It might well be a debacle for Heupel, and that probably should be the baseline expectation.

But I hold out hope the team will at least fight for four quarters and make it competitive.

I've got a bit more faith in Heupel than previous staffs.

But this year he's doing what I'd personally do. Ya play the QB you feel gives you the best shot to win, and with the OL play (in pass protection) that seems to be someone with home run potential running the ball. Bailey isn't that guy.

A few years back Butch Jones played this the other way, he stuck with Worley and then even tried Peterman despite having an OL that couldn't pass protect. Eventually he had to go with Dobbs, and his best two seasons here were because of it.

I think Bailey can be a fantastic QB in this offense, but I think the OL has to play a hell of a lot better for that to happen.
