That first deep ball from Milton was a beauty and Hyatt dropped it and then got a concussion in the process. Hyatt stays healthy and catches the ball there and it’s a different game IMO.And yet we have. Multiple times. The receiver dropped it. But please restart the HB posts again. They really added a lot to the evening.
Man I’m worried about the rest of the year. Hate seeing other schools with relatively new coaching staffs have a signature win. Jelly. We just can’t seem to get out of this hole. We certainly can’t recruit our way out. Sads.
We’ve been building since 2007. Stop blaming fans for wanting to stay home. Damn craziness. Come spend $500 on tickets, gas, food, etc. to watch loss after loss because that is what “fandom” is. Drive all day long and use a whole Saturday because you are a Vol fan. Vol fans have dealt with enough for 14 years. Put a product on the field that competes with UGA and Bama and watch how everyone comes. Fans have had enough kicks to the gut to keep having to endure it. Eventually you tap out. Fans can still stay home and watch the games.Yes people will show up if we win 10 + games but don’t want to be part of building the program.
The baseball thing is a good example…. Most people barely knew we had a baseball program but when we won enough…. Those people started getting tickets and knocking the ones that had been supporting them the whole time if they didn’t have season tickets.
This offense is better with Milton going forward if he learns to lay the ball up there and let the receivers get it. (That’s if he can hit those open receivers)And completes the passes with more accuracy. Again you can work with a guy that turns the ball over as long as he can move the ball. Milton threw for 50 yards, Hooker gave us 188 and threw a pick but scored two touchdowns.
If you can make an argument as to why this offense is better under Milton moving forward using stats I want to see it.
I don't blame fans for not coming to games, but unreasonable expectations from fans is destructive. Expecting a 3-7 Pruitt team decimated by defections to be great after 2 games is unreasonable. And yet here we are, with "fans" already talking about Heupel not being the guy. And yes, that does matter.
No joke. I’m in atlanta. So that’s three hours there and three hours back pissed. I’ll save my money. I have given enough over the years, I’ve taken a big step back now. I’m tired of empty promises and pissed off walks to my truck. Some folks act as though every vol fan lives down Chapman highway with nothing else to do on a Saturday.
So how long is a reasonable time for a coach to decide a starter isn't cutting it? And then add to that his practice experience and the quality of the backups. What's the right answer?
What if QB1 is Tom Brady, QB2 is Shrout, and QB3 is Maurer...and Brady isn't doing well? Probably a different answer than if QB2 is Peyton Manning and QB3 is Aaron Rodgers.
We have no clue what Heupel's rating of each QB is and why. We have no idea how short anyone's leash is. We only have history. Heupel has never hung onto a failing QB if he had a choice. But again, how long before you change? One game? Two? Four? I think even the best coaches tend to err on the side of staying with the starter longer. Even Saban.
Starting field position and offensive ineptitude on the other side goes a long way in this calculation, I imagine.
There were a few times I thought Pitt could have put that game away yesterday but their offense stalled - some of that has to do with our defense, but a lot of it is simply they are bad on offense.
