I figure they have to give sanctions on scholarships to show something in court. If they just fire him with cause and nothing happens to uni then it won’t look as good in court. But now they can say look how hurt we are
Yup there MUST be institutional damage, otherwise it's just BS. The real players - president, chancellor, AD and the entire university can go on unpunished...that is a signal for bad actors...hey just hire a bunch of new cheaters and try again, nothing will ever happen to our program on a systemic level. Just hire and fire and move on.

I do think all the cooperation and, hopefully, self punishments will help. But people must also remember just how MANY penalties we are looking at. The NCAA could still come out with some pretty harsh penalties and people would go nuts. I think you have to consider just how severe and how voluminous the accusations against us are. Iirc one of the major sites was talking about 50 or 60 major violations when it first came out. So, any minimizing of the punishment is positive and this all could end a whole lot worse.

to fire cornbread with cause
That is a stupid reason so it's not implausible.

But what I'm asking is could they get shed of Fulmer simply for having hired a losing coach? Or did they need the investigation? I suspect the reason was to force Fulmer to resign, who would never have done it otherwise.

Pork all day. I leave my beef days for a good steak.

Have also come to really appreciate the vinegar NC style since being here. Never thought I would, but I really like Buxton BBQ.

Grew up on Buddy's for family gatherings and still love that too. Not fancy or expensive, so idk what bbq snobs think of it, but it's just really solid and consistent. Sauce is great.
Buddy’s is shockingly good.

Hard to beat buddy's for the price. Agree on NC bbq, that vinegar baste is surprisingly good.

Unless GA and bammer get the death penalty, it's all just BS.

Gotta catch em first.

We did it the dumbest-Bammer-possible way.

Clearly they have a better system than...handing out Mcdy's bags and pissing off some university employee leading to whistleblowing.

Hell, I would donate to a Spyre offshoot if they were to set up a separate rivals-investigations team 😅

Dang Weezer, you are starting to sound like a broken record. Quit worrying so much. Your posts are beginning to be very catbonesque, or others that just can’t quit beating the same dead horse… you are a much better poster than that…

The portal may not be the answer to all your prayers (or angst).

These coaches developed some players in a short time into phenomenal players. IE Theo Jackson. Maybe, just maybe they can do it with the younger players too…
Not seeing how I'm being "negative" Doc. I support the coaches and praise the job they did this season. How is talking about improvement "negative"? Our coaches did a remarkable job this past season and outperformed expectations, but it's not wrong to want to see us continue to get better. It's like people are afraid to have an honest conversation about what this team needs to do to continue moving forward. Having that conversation is in no way betraying the coaches because our opinions mean squat to what they're going to do.

Hasn't vinegar always been the middle Tennessee baste base (vs west Tennessee dry rub)? I don't know why they call it NC. We always called it Tennessee. Except without slaw: which makes the Tennessee sandwich better. I wonder if it dates all the way back to when the two were the same state?

I was screaming at the Titans to take him that draft day.

I don't think the combine stuff is useless. But dang. Can't let a single 40 time convince you 4 years of tape is lying to you.

Just like all those teams that passed on Metcalf because of his 3 cone drill time. Like really? Now Jennings and Metcalf aren't the same caliber player but the same difference.

The vinegar of the Carolinas was originally just that, it's not even a sauce like it is in Tennessee and everywhere else. It's literally vinegar and spices, nothing else.

And no offense to middle Tennessee, but they haven't invented any style of bbq haha. Carolina, Memphis, Texas, KC. Those are the ones that everyone else borrows from. Or so says my bbq Bible.

I corrected sauce to baste too late.

When I was a kid all of the middle TN bbq was a baste of vinegar, lemon, cayenne, and a lil sugar. I mean bbq joints and backyards.

Sauce was always ridiculed as fake.

Ya that comes from the Carolinas, that vinegar base is their signature. Tennessee and North Carolina share a lot of culture.

What I'm saying is that before "bbq Bibles" and cooking shows, middle TN was always vinegar baste. It was not imported or if it was, it was likely in Colonial times.
The bbq Bible is a history of bbq styles. The Carolinas invented the vinegar basted whole hog style of bbq, and that migrated to Tennessee. It stopped in middle Tennessee though, because Memphis is totally different.

We obviously won’t be interested but thought I’d share.

Brini basically lost his starting job during the Tennessee game. :)

He was a 5th year guy who never got much playing time until our secondary imploded with attrition in late 2020. He stepped in and did a passable job against Cincinnati, so when the attrition got worse during the offseason Brini won the job at nickel position sort of by default, because he had more experience than the other candidates. But eventually he gave Kirby one too many sideline seizures and another perennial backup took over.

What was the purpose of the "internal" "investigation"? To fire Fulmer? I am not asking about the publicized purpose. It makes no sense to burn the house down over corn pone's buyout. Also, "doing it the right way" is just imbecile politician speak. Were they able to fire everyone above janitor?

Just reading between the lines, but this is my take: Some very prominent UT folks wanted Pruitt gone, and justifiably so. But, either because it would mean admitting he was wrong or because of that same old blind loyalty that allowed him to keep dead weight on staff his last few years as HC, Fulmer dug in his heels. This made it necessary to get Fulmer out ahead of schedule as well. Problem was that Fulmer was still so entrenched with prominent support, the nuclear option was the only way to get him out. Hence the nuclear option engaged. No disrespect to Fulmer, but I think we upgraded at both AD and HC. Now we just have to deal with all the fallout.
