You can be big strong and fast. See bama and Georgia. Tall fast and slim isn’t going to get the tough yards and there is the problem. We got to be able to play power ball in short yardage situations. Bama runs some spread but they can also turn around and pound it at you. I love big plays and even get into tempo. But we have to be able to play slow too because sometimes we have no choice and sometimes we need to be able to do it ourselves. We cannot be one dimensional big play all pass offense and not be able to get the tough yards. The bama-Georgia blueprint is there. If our offense and defense lineman aren’t strong or big enough at the end of the day we are in trouble. We haven’t won the LOS against Bama,Georgia or even Florida in forever. There is no amount of scheming a team can do if they can’t compete at the LOS, bama guys have huge lineman with huge bodies and the move just fine. Time to toughen up on both sides of the line and continue to get more disciplined. If we can’t run block in short yardage and if we can’t put pressure on the passer we are just whistling in the dark and kidding ourselves. Tired of hearing about our LOS is gonna be better, I want to freakin see it get a lot better.GBO!If you look at the guys we signed that are OL we should all see a pattern because not every OL prospect in the country could play in this offense. They need to be guick, fast and be in shape to go as fast as we do. The big strong slower guy's just can't do it over the course of a game much less a season. These OL recruits fit the bill but want be ready for a year or two and that is something we have all got to be patient with. Defense, I have no idea what the plan is there.
I'll take my SKITTLE now and watch the squirrels chase each other around the yard.
All of our lineman are over 300 pounds the notion that this staff doesn’t want to win the line scrimmage is laughable, trying to do the Georgia or Alabama blueprint doesn’t work see PruittWe got to be able to play power ball in short yardage situations. If we reported 14 last year, that should be enough. If we impose another ten this year, we are at 24 over two years. That is insanity and beyond stupid. Other universities have coaches still coaching who were caught cheating and nothing has been done. What we are doing is craziness (post is not directed at you - just responding).I was a little skeptical about the scholly limitations talk, but I guess it could be a real thing. Better to get it over with next year and move on.
I’m guilty of a lot of that mentality. I do blame him for his part in the whole fiasco…which is pretty much from the hire to the enabling end, but I give him a pass when it comes to his overall legacy.Honestly if the AD was just some regular Joe Schmo rather than Fulmer this fanbase would be so much more pissed off at what he did, but sadly they can’t allow themselves to blame a former great coach for what happened…
Can't disagree though it seemed to be somewhat common in the early 80's for schools to have "professional" tour guides for their recruits.Danny Ford was trash that learned his trade in Tuscaloosa.
Agree. As discussed ad nauseum, the NCAA and college football are making tons of money. It would be easy to have an enforcement arm.The NCAA could affect cheating be consistent enforcement of their rules and voiding wins and championships. They could also hold conference commissioners and AD’s accountable.
Wouldn't be a bad idea for all P-5 HQ's.If I were in charge of the NCAA I would be opening a satellite office next door to the SEC office in Birmingham, Alabama.
One quick fix would be no more ACC officiating crews.Penalties in losses:
vs Pitt 13-134 (one-possession loss)
at Florida 10-85
vs Ole Miss 6-48 (one-possession loss)
at Alabama 12-98
vs Georgia 6-40
vs Purdue 14-128 (one-possession loss)
averaging over 10 penalties per game in losses has to be fixed
I put him on ignore shortly after he “whatever I’m not changing my mind”d me when I pointed out that playing against UGA didn’t cost us Cade May’s services…since he got hurt against South Alabama. His is a determined mindset geared towards a certain response. I recognized the Bruin like quality, ignored and have enjoyed the relative peace afterwards. He's basically the guy that you go golf with and hit a hole-in one and his response is "but ya shot X over par on the day"![]()
