Music is inherently political, especially folk/Americana (which Isbell decidedly is). You not agreeing with his politics doesn't make him wrong. It just means you have differing outlooks.

I don't care which way an artist feels or which side they fall on. I listen to plenty of people that my opinions don't mesh with. Crap man, I'm a deadhead from way back. I DO care if they are a complete @## that thinks they are always the smartest person in the room. I have never minded hearing writers beliefs in their songs, if they are going to write from the heart it will always be there in some form.

As for not making him wrong, I disagree. Not saying his politics are wrong but am saying being an @%^ about it is.

My opinion is all.

He's not good, foreal? Guessing NCA&T isn't a prestigious golf program though.
HaHa.........

He took a spot from a young kid who actually deserved a chance to live out a dream of playing college golf.

EDIT: not just my opinion. It's a fact!

If by "country artist", you mean the auto tuned pop BS that nASSville is pawning off as country, then yeah. Tell me the last time you heard a Jamey Johnson song on country radio. Tell me the last time you heard a Cody Jinks song other than "Loud and Heavy" (still blows my mind that they actually played it some) on "country" radio. I can keep going......
Today's "bro" country artist is all crap. FL GA Line, Kane Brown, Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt and the like is all trash. Colter Wall and the likes should be played more. Although I do like Hardy.

No. Anyone who willingly hangs out with those absolute wastes of skin called FGL ain't someone I will ever listen to. And that's not even mentioning his OTHER faults. I have no time for people like that.
I'm guessing you know none of these artists personally. It's one thing to say you don't like someone's music but there's no need to get so hateful. Also, just as the beauty of art is in the eye of the beholder, music is in the ear of the listener. I have it when people unequivocally say one artist (especially one who's clearly successful) is awful.

Some of y'all aren't mad that an artist you like is openly political, you're mad that the politics don't resonate with your own.

That's fine, but just call it what it is. There are loads of artists who are very openly political both now and for the last century. That's true for country music especially.

I've basically gotten to the point of not caring at all. Do I like the song/your music? Yes? I'll listen. Don't care if openly political or not (like Dolly) - I respect the choice to be either way. I also don't care which nutty position you fall on unless it's truly, insanely nutty. I don't change the song when Kid Rock comes on because he's openly conservative, I turn it off because his music sucks (cept that one with Sheryl Crow - that's a whole vibe). At the same time I don't avoid listening to Eminem because he's liberal. It's music, we are supposed to enjoy it. Same with movies - I don't avoid watching something that has an actor/actress I have differing views from. Jmo

And you're certainly entitled to your opinion. Never suggested otherwise.

In my case I don't think that's true (but I will concede that could be true on a grander scale). I brought up Isbell earlier...I knew from the Southeastern album he was more politically liberal (Flying over Water, Relatively easy) but I honestly didn't care, because 1) his songwriting is top of his craft and amazing, and 2) I respect the rights of individuals to believe as they will. For me, when he disrespected openly the right of others to believe their way, that's when I parted ways.

Still love his music BTW
