I've heard a considerable amount of Harry Styles given that my girlfriend is a superfan. I just looked up My Morning Jacket's music with her beside me... We both agree there's really no discernable difference in their sound aside from the fact that Harry is a considerably better singer.
You're only hearing one part of their sound. Harry Styles could only dream of the vast spectrum MMJ has...goes for James' vocals, as well.

Let me put this plainly, this isn't me being "hateful". This is actually the vanilla version of my true feelings towards modern country music. I can't possibly express how I truly feel because I like being on this board (expressing how I actually feel is what got me kicked off Twitter).

You mentioned successful. Success ain't got **** to do with it when there's no other options. Country radio plays what they're told, like good little robots, and nASSville tells them to play this formulaic, auto-tuned, snap track, same **** different voice nonsense regurgitated and vomited over the airwaves on a daily basis. Fact of the matter is this, in today's world, a VAST MAJORITY (not everyone, just so I ain't being misunderstood) wants what's easy. Those same people want everything dumbed down to the lowest common denominator so that they can feel good, hence the reason why storytelling is on life support in country music. It's all "I got a girl in my 4WD in daisy dukes with a cold beer", rinse and repeat. Maybe mix it up a little here and there, but everyone sounds the **** same and they're all singing about the same dumb ****.

So you'll just have to forgive me for not giving it another chance. I've tried, the young thundercats I work with play that nonsense, and I have to either throw in headphones or go somewhere else because I can't stand that level of nonsense (and trust me, I can put up with a LOT of nonsense).

And I don't care to know any of them personally. If you do, that's cool. Do me a favor: tell them I said their music sucks, whoever's putting their music on country radio should be publically ridiculed, and they should be ashamed (and yes you can quote me on that) of themselves for calling what they do country music. If they personally have an issue with it, they can take it up with me.
women lie, men lie, numbers don't. I'm 25 and am already at the point of disdain for the new era of pop culture. I actually think I fell out of it around 2018. The 1975 was the last band I truly fell in love with, Juice Wrld was the last rapper I truly fell in love with, and rock has been dead for 20 years and I don't like country music so I don't have any one else to speak of fondly.

A good example is a lot of people hate Kiss, but the longevity and record sales speak for themselves.

Truly has the same alcohol concentration as most mass produced beers and more alcohol concentration than mass produced "light" beers.

Drink whatever you enjoy.
I know the alcohol content is there, but the only thing missing is an umbrella and a pink glass. ……but to each their own.

I just can't see how you got kicked off twitter.

Out of context, yes.
In my opinion he didn't intend it as a racial slur at all, and was talking about one of his buddies.
The fact that it's a word waiting on his tongue and so easily expressed...idk. As in...why would that even come out of his mouth or come to his mind in private? Pretty sus

Jmo it would be one thing if he was retelling a story or in a situation where using the word made sense for adding context or repeating what was said by another. But the fact he so loosely used the word...coincidentally around friends...idk. May be nothing, but I don't keep much trust in folks that have a drink and suddenly want to blurt out something like that. He sure wasn't using the word in a positive light. Feels like to me it is that person's true thoughts escaping.

While the topic is on country music that actually doesn't suck, any Robert Earl Keen fans in here? Going to see him for the first time live in Asheville in a few weeks. Big fan of his and I know he won't be touring for too much longer, so glad I'm gonna get to go.
Saw him twice in the early 2000’s. It was a good show at an intimate setting. 👍 honestly a little surprised he’s still touring

Ron, do you think the SEC will be generous about handing out waivers to guys who entered the portal after the SEC deadline to transfer within the conference? Not seeing it myself, but as its an SEC rule, I'm assuming that's where the waiver would have to come from, the SEC office.

I was responding to your comment questioning his private thoughts
"Private" as in surrounded by friends. It means something that he would say it aloud...among friends, iyam.

Something something subconcious if I had to guess. Weary of folks that speak like that in private, when they think no one is watching.

Doubtful.

Straight unadulterated blasphemy. Shame on your house.
