Alabama wants set rules because they know they can get away with breaking them whereas others cannot. It gives them an advantage.

Im not disagreeing with this but the Article specifically states “Booster Backed Collectives” which our Organization Spyre is not. Spyre is it’s own entity and while Boosters can donate to Spyre they are not formed and backed by Boosters.

I agree with the Coaches and the NCAA, Boosters should not be able to form a collective and pay players.

Saban is pissed because he got outdone. He was all smiles when discussing what BY was making in NIL money, which at the time, was considered astronomical. Spyre comes along and punts his ass out of the way and his little man syndrome kicked in. Now he wants to bitch and fuss. He was happy when he thought he could still buy his players. Now he sees it won't be as easy.

I think part of it is also that he's lost some control. Saban did the NFL and left because he didn't like the level of control the players have at that level. So of course now that HS/College players are getting some control he's pissed.

The Olympics did away with its amateur mandate and it's been just fine.

Folks don't seem to understand that college football isn't what it was when amateurism was plausible, and it hasn't been that in a very, very long time.

The reason we did that was to compete with the USSR and East Germany because they were PRO's playing against pure amateurs. Giving a kid some extra to live on while in school is not what this is as we all know.

I guess you think the ONLY way they have signed the classes they have is because of cheating? 🙄🙄. I am sure you would think the same thing if TN were recruiting at that level all these years right?
I’m saying they HEAVILY cheated at a high level and were enabled by the SEC. Are you saying they were straight up and up? Dodge Chargers were financed by their parents? Tua’s family relocated from Hawaii on their own dime? 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 Saban is a genius recruiter and Smart is strong in his own right. They don’t string #1 class after #1 class out of sheer SKILL. Their protected little shell game is what they’re scrambling to save. Don’t waste your time with me and lose your worship position around their thrones. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Now we're paying kids so other schools can compete with Bama and Georgia, who were already paying kids. Seems to jibe IMO.

the NCAA can't enforce the rules that do exist, at least not in an timely, efficient manner. college basketball has been an absolute mess for a very long time, and it's not exactly been kept secrect. siap last night, will wade was on tape, and it took 2-3 years to get something done about that. and that was with rules that actually existed.

so forgive me if i'm less than confident that the 'AA can all the sudden enforce rules that don't yet exist, to the extent that some of these folks seem to want them to.

it's a story, so i get why there's attention. but i just can't see this ever becoming something meaningful. you don't fix opening pandora's box, by opening pandora's box. lol.

I mean people just gotta stop treating the NCAA like it's anything except a farm system for the professional leagues.

The MLB does it right, despite doing a ton of things wrong they do handle young talent well. Outta HS you make a choice go pros and forego any sort of college eligibility (which really just says you can't get a free degree while playing baseball) OR get drafted and work (without the worry of school) up through the farm system.

Baseball essentially gives HS players the "academic path" and the "vocational path" and I personally think if the NBA/NFL/NHL all did it the same way you'd see things normalize a bit. Cause you'd basically then know that the kids in college are there for at least 3 years (maybe lower this to 2 years across the board?) and chose the academic path basically. But it also gives the kids that don't wanna deal with school an option to work up by just focusing on ball.

With the XFL/USFL etc. the NFL has other lower tier professional leagues that can basically become their farm teams (like baseball has).

Big time college football hasn't been an amateur sport in any of our lifetimes...yes, even @InVOLuntary.

I just hate to see it turn into a true bidding war. We all know it has been rampant for years but surely they can do better than this. It is what it is I suppose.

They sheltered Bama and he wants that back, clearly. Vols and Ole Miss getting hammered while Bama pumps out #1 classes year after year is just asinine. Competition from 20+ other schools where players can get paid is much harder to compete against than just Georgia (and the obvious others). It also makes the players' prices go up an insane amount and I don't imagine they can get every 5* they want for 50k a semester anymore, time to be a little more selective.

Manny Diaz left Temple after, what, 9 days? That’s not even one Scaramucci. And all we got was “Oh well, what can ya do???” But when the players earning these coaches their exorbitant salaries start getting a slice, why, it’s affecting the game’s spotless integrity!!
I was against all this crap. I wanted it to be amateur, or at least close to amateur athletics...just like HS but on a state level...but..

All that is over forever now...I do not..can not..stand to see the very few established under the table cheater programs continue to just take a huge 💩 on competitive integrity any longer..

If all this crap turns against us and they shut us down...I may just be out for good...I just can't take the established favoritism anymore...I mean what is the point of watching what amounts to professional wrasslin and Harlem Globetrotter "games" against the Generals?

It is humiliating to play against longtime rivals that get away with paying under the table, stacking 5* up like cordwood..along with crappy biased cheating officials?

There is zero point...it is fixed.

It’s always been a bidding war, now under the table money from Bama and Ga has been neutralized. It’s no longer a monopoly for top program boosters which is great
