Gonna be In Charleston SC the next few days and of course its supposed to rain all 3 days. Any recommendations on things to do in Charleston while it's raining?
Dont be a wuss.

There's everything! Folly, IOP. Ruins off Mt Pleasant. Rainbow Row, go fishing, taste the great food. Go grab a drink at anyone of 9,000 rooftop bars, is recommend the one in Folly the scenery 😅

The Farmers Market is a blast.

The Griffin Pub, Blind Tiger...shall I go on?

Absolutely stunned that a group of people so single-minded about the Vols have such widely differing opinions about...well...everything except the Vols.

Food. Music. Politics. Beer. Movies. Physical beauty. Shows. COVID. Tom Brady. Pickup trucks. Tom Cruise. Religion. Lebron James. Cats. Snakes. Vacations. MLB teams. Soccer. Real Italian food. Etc. Etc. Ad nauseum.

And mayo. Definitely mayo.

I keep hearing folks mention some kind of a salary cap as a possibility for managing NIL. I see NO way that could work. Salary caps in professional sports are only capping how much a team can pay for their roster. It has nothing to do with capping how much an individual can make in endorsements. Even if athletes became employees of the Universities and there was a cap in place the athletes would still be free to profit off of their own name. To not be able to would be like telling Lebron that he isn't allowed to make money from Nike. Or even better, could you imagine the uproar if they told him how much he was allowed to make from Nike?

I also see no way that they could prohibit you from making money from corporations/entities that are either owned or have "boosters" in their management/on their boards. If that was to happen wouldn't companies be able to sue because they are being restricted from investing their money as they see fit?

Think about it like this-

Would Saban not be allowed to do his crappy AFLAC commercials if say AFLAC was owned by an Alabubba booster or alum? Would anyone tell him that it would be illegal to make money from them? Of course not.

We will see how this all eventually plays out but, at the moment, it seems like a whole bunch of straw grasping.

We are a diverse, but United, group. That’s what makes us so powerful.

If you’re with your wife/gf, I take mine to The Shops at Charleston Place in that scenario. Won’t take too long but always earns me points
Thank you
If you love history then yes. Otherwise, no.
Absolutely love history
Kids or no kids?

If you have kids, there is a fire museum in North Charleston. It isn’t real big, but I thought it was cool. Will get you 1-2 hours of education and seeing old rigs. Fort Moultrie is on Sullivan’s island. It is one of those little known forts that does not get near the traffic as Sumter. Some of it is indoors, I believe. Little known fact is that is where Osceola is buried. We’ve also been to the Children’s Museum, but I wasn’t impressed.

If no kids and you enjoy craft beer, there are several great breweries to choose from. You can go downtown to the market, but it will be in and out of the weather. Unfortunately, many of the cool activities in that great city involve being outside.
Thank you, kids are staying home this time

I'll be out and about the whole time, hence asking for recommendations. Ain't no rain gonna hold me down!
Bars are always open. If you have a car Isle of Palms is a really cool place to visit
Thank you

Leave.

Seriously, the rain ruined my friend's proposal plans. Fortunately he had a work trip around Napa the next month so he flew her out there and it worked out.
Driving around Charleston in the rain sucks. No one seems to know how to do it despite the frequency of opportunities to learn.

Just heard on the radio, and this may be old news, Tennessee should find out about the NCAA investigation by the end of the month and they didn't think there would be much to come from it in the way of penalties. Also as far as the NIL things are going according to JP ( I think that was the guest on 104.5 Nashville) that many of the questions we all had about taxes and income and the like are coming to light. The players, parents, handlers and the like are going to have too, in some case's , set up themselves as LLC and paying quarterly taxes for those really making bank, hiring financial advisers and on and on and on...........all that free money ain't free and SOME of the big fish and there posses are getting a dose of reality now.

I also found it interesting that when they were talking about the investigation, "someone close" to it was talking about, how could you penalize a school for giving someone $ 150,000.00 and then have them not go to that school and go somewhere else. In that situation what did the other school he did go to give him. It does make you think.

I drive an 04 Sequoia with 230,000 on it...and the thing runs like a top, and it's a f'n tank, it pulls my heavy 22 year old 30' camper like a beast.
My dad has a 01 sequoia that he got brand new and it still runs great!

He's had to fix a lot, but it doesn't look like it'll break down anytime soon.

Can y’all keep my father in your prayers. He went in for a kidney stone and they have found a mass (unrelated to the kidney stone) and he has an appointment to find out more information. I don’t know the location of the mass but am still freaked out about it (he decided not to tell me until an hour before his appointment this morning).
Prayers

I have heard that before. I also got into a huge argument with a person at work once over whether it was supposed to be "tea in China" or "eggs in China?" I went so far as to take a poll. I won that bet, LOL. This was many years ago, I was single and she was a smokeshow, so I just liked hanging around to argue with her about anything. Anywho, I have gotten way off the beaten path, so I will stop now.

Was definitely “tea in China”. My aunt also said “eggs” as “ayyggs”.

I’m holding out for this… I have been ready to buy for months but just refusing to pull the trigger because of prices and the dealerships don’t have to play ball right now because of the lack of supply. Cash is king seems to be dead right now, so I’m just going to keep holding out.

I’m in the market too. May have to pull the trigger before too long. Market will likely turn right after I do. I’ll let you know when I buy so you’ll know better prices are coming.

The salary cap is a solution to the problem of fake NIL deals... Not a regulation strategy for NIL itself.

Not that I believe in a salary cap. The salary cap only works if the cap at least approaches actual market value. If the actual market value of a recruiting class is 10 million dollars and that's what you set the cap at, it really doesn't matter because only a handful of teams will have the money to hit the cap any way.

If you set the cap significantly under market value, teams will just keep doing what they are doing with fake NIL deals.
