Gonna be In Charleston SC the next few days and of course its supposed to rain all 3 days. Any recommendations on things to do in Charleston while it's raining?

SIAP but you could visit all the Applebee's locations in the greater Charleston area and provide reviews of each.

I keep hearing folks mention some kind of a salary cap as a possibility for managing NIL. I see NO way that could work. Salary caps in professional sports are only capping how much a team can pay for their roster. It has nothing to do with capping how much an individual can make in endorsements. Even if athletes became employees of the Universities and there was a cap in place the athletes would still be free to profit off of their own name. To not be able to would be like telling Lebron that he isn't allowed to make money from Nike. Or even better, could you imagine the uproar if they told him how much he was allowed to make from Nike?

I also see no way that they could prohibit you from making money from corporations/entities that are either owned or have "boosters" in their management/on their boards. If that was to happen wouldn't companies be able to sue because they are being restricted from investing their money as they see fit?

Think about it like this-

Would Saban not be allowed to do his crappy AFLAC commercials if say AFLAC was owned by an Alabubba booster or alum? Would anyone tell him that it would be illegal to make money from them? Of course not.

We will see how this all eventually plays out but, at the moment, it seems like a whole bunch of straw grasping.

It's unlikely that college football keeps this hybrid amateur/professional model for very long, teams too unstable and too many legal problems. More likely to eventually move toward the NFL model IMO. Players get revenue sharing/salaries, but they give up some freedom of choice and movement in the process. You might have drafts, contracts, trades replacing this state of free agency and bidding for recruits and transfers. Once players don't have complete freedom to choose their team, or leave when someone offers more money, my guess is the NIL contract values will drop to true market value of their name, image, and likeness, because the "inducement" value will no longer exist.

Just a mom that had no affiliation to UT until my daughter fell in love with UT. I’ve loved the Vols since the fall of 2016 which was her first year in the Pride of the Southland. I still pull for my Big 12 alma mater, but the Vols have my heart! We had football season tickets through the painful Pruitt years, have gone to some pretty awesome games in TBA, and more than half of my closet is the most beautiful shade of orange I’ve ever seen. She graduates with her masters next week and I’m a VFL by choice with plans to retire in Knoxville some day. 🧡🍊🧡

That's awesome. I know there's a few POTS members here who will appreciate that story as well

No 25 limit...

No coach limit...

Saban is salivating.

sounds to me like the NCAA is posturing the Ole you want to make the rules,OK LET’s just end amateurism thing all together to freak out congressmen from the bottom 90% to get them to fend for their schools. Every school in TX other than ut and TAM does not want a no holds barred mindset. 85 and 25 are their lifeblood

Best time line quote ever!
When I am ready to decide, I will probably or most likely know that is it is time to decide at which point I am likely to make a decision, but if I am not sure if it is time to decide if I am ready, I will probably decide to wait and then maybe I won't because a decision like this needs to be firmly decided before deciding unless you just get a feeling, you know?

Things can go up or down, or left or right, and sometimes backward or frontward or all the above.

Drafts? There will never be a college draft.

I knew I was in deep when I found myself in the RF daily looking for updates on football recruits and being entertained by a bunch of morans in this thread. Y’all have made me laugh on several occasions…but please stop posting pictures of snakes.

Would you rather have Weezer’s nudzs? He’s still looking for takers.

Why not? High school baseball players can get drafted straight to the minor leagues? But if that doesn't happen, I see nothing but trouble ahead for football. We already have a tangle of conflicting state laws on the subject of NIL. It'll be almost impossible to get more than a handful of schools to agree on how to resolve the current state of NIL pay for play.

I was head of security over this complex as my part-time gig in the late 90's. Killer job!!!
