This weekend starts the annual early summer tradition for me of watching Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers, and The Pacific between now and the 4th of July.

Also rubbing down the ankles and waist with some Vasoline or Vapor Rub helps keep them off you.

Not all tournaments…..I do think they should re-seed after each round.

What major sports tournaments do this? Tennis? No. Baseball/softball? No. Collegiate/Olympic Wrestling? No. Basketball? No. International soccer/FIFA World Cup? No. Any high school sports? Don't think so.

The only league I can think of that might do this is the NFL playoffs, but that's not a "tournament" as much as it's a playoff. Tournament is a concrete bracket that doesn't change every round. If you win you advance to face the other winner.

Edit: The World Cup starts with a group stage round robin, with the top 2 advancing to the bracket. The orientation of the bracket is predetermined, they don't reseed after the group stage.

I usually get past a bunch of those and end up with Platoon and We Were Soldiers around 4th of July.

Last year I watched some foreign (mostly German, some Russian) WW2 films that were interesting but very bleak. 1939 Battle of Westerplatte, The WInter War, Fortress of War, Katyn, Generation War, Stalingrad 1993, Come and See. I stopped with Come and See because it was a pretty heavy watch.
