I suggest we quit looking for who to blame and move on. He picked Miami. We ain't paying 4 million dollars for one OL. That's the hardest position to project and we are in on a number of other highly rated linemen. He didn't pick us, he also didn't pick Bama or USC. If all we recruited were 3 stars no one would notice. Coaches are doing a heckuva job. Based on the performance of Athletics as a whole I'd say the Admin is doing a heckuva job. Again, just my opinion.
This is absolutely correct. You said this once before and I posted a reply on two different days, but deleted them both almost immediately because I don't want this to be a controversy. This is not the best day for the conversation. But I would like to know the newly-famous membership number on the day Nico got his deal.Texas A&M, Texas, Miami
They aren't crowdfunding their NIL to win these recruiting battles. I'm all about the collective effort, but don't let the wool be pulled over your eyes to think it's the fanbases fault if Spyre doesn't have enough bags. Especially this early in the game.
We need to get this system rearranged: we crowdfund the athletic department with out ticket and merch sales. Boosters should be funding the recruiting.
Sorry, I wasn't directing it at you necessarily just the topic. I should have been more clear.I don't think I've once referenced "fault". I haven't made a "should" argument. I'll leave that to you guys. I've made a "could" argument. The current setup allows fans to positively affect recruiting. That could make a difference.
If fans choose not to participate...whatever floats their boat. (But it doesn't make much sense to me to bitch and moan about recruiting efforts on messageboards and then poo poo the idea of donating $5 month to the efforts. That seems like a victim mentality to me. Claim to be negatively affected by something, cry about it, eschew any sense of ability or desire to change it, and keep bitching and moaning about it.)
Whatever. It's cool. This isn't a "should" issue as far as I'm concerned. It's a "could". The fanbase could affect positive change. If they choose not to, they choose not to. To each their own.
Recruiting has changed so much just in the last year. It use to be that it was hard to get top recruits because schools like Bama, Clemson, MI, The U etc.. etc... winning everything was hard to pull top recruits. Now, its money money money and whose boosters are going to step up and buy players like A&M and Miami. But even the dude in Miami will have to somewhere say that's it for me if he's smart at all. It is what it is and all we can do is throw out the best offer we can and hope its enough. Have you noticed how quite Bama and some of the other big schools have been? Find that interesting. I don't think we are doing terrible at offering I just think that on certain 5* players we are going to get out bid. I really hate the direction College football has gone.We are still going to have to do it the hard way. Miami has a lunatic willing to throw money away and we don't. I'm glad we got Nico when we did.
I said it after Tate picked OSU because people were pointing fingers at fans who haven't donated yet. And I disagree with the notion that it's the fans' fault when I don't believe it to be our job in the first place. This is absolutely correct. Nobody said this lol however we need keep getting our membership numbers up…not sure why you guys are dying on this hill ppl are literally just trying to help out our NIL which in return helps out the university but you guys continue getting mad over trivial things. My question is why?I said it after Tate picked OSU because people were pointing fingers at fans who haven't donated yet. Seems like we have a big sector of “not my job” fansNobody said this lol however we need keep getting our membership numbers up…not sure why you guys are dying on this hill ppl are literally just trying to help out our NIL which in return helps out the university but you guys continue getting mad over trivial things. Give me a break this time last year we were 41st in recruiting with no traction with anyone, this year we’re 10th with commitments from a potential program changing QB, an elite in state edge rusher, elite TE and a bunch of other quality players and in on or lead with multiple other elite guys. I know it sucks missing on guys like Francis and Carnell but look how quick we forget the state of recruiting was in surrounding UT just a year ago.Dang...this is depressing. I told myself not to get my hopes up for this class, but in my heart I was hoping to be wrong.

Tbh, I don't understand why anyone gets massively upset about the comings and goings and fleeting desires of kids that don't choose their school. I get bummed for sure, but not upset.
I think people should do what they think they should do. If that's donate to Spyre. Power to ya/us. Thanks, it helps.
But I also think people just want to point blame at whoever and whatever they can when something doesn't go our way. And now with Spyre, it seems a lot want to blame the lowly fan for not creating a monthly budget, carved out of his/her child's baby food and diaper money fund (because let's be honest, any extra $50 we had each month is going to gas and groceries right now) so it can get funnelled to an 18 yr old that may never play a down.
Buying players is a rich man's game. But right now it doesn't seem like our rich men are playing (that doesn't necessarily make it the fans' responsibility either).
Again, if anyone has the extra a month and wants to throw it in the pot for the collective - good for them. I just hate the idea of placing the blame on the people who don't or choose not to. People who use their extra money for tithes or donating to NGOs for noble causes. Or just those saving every extra penny to get ahead and move up in life. Just my two cents.
Its a pretty good haul its around 80 miles from watts bar dam to ft.loudon dam and then im not sure but probably another 20 plus from ft loudon to the stadium. It also depends on how shallow of water you can run in and take the short cuts and cut throughs if have to take the channel all the way its around 70-80 all the short cuts will shave about 15 mileshow long of boat ride is it from Spring city/ Watts Bar to Neyland? Me and some friends been talking about renting a house and riding boats to a game
