Recruiting Forum Football Talk IV

Lettuce all settle down.

Spyre needs to buy about 50 tickets for home games. Get some Volunteers (that us), and have them get people to sign up as they are walking in. I’m sure it would need to be off property but that’s no biggie. Twenty minutes before kick off the workers get their free game ticket and head on in.

It's gonna be bad if we miss on Ramil. I really think Sham is a Vol. Then again, I thought Mauigoa was a Vol.... But we need Sham AND Ramil. Really think we need both. Would love if we somehow scored Simmons, but everyone is saying he's FSU. Honestly thought we were gonna get an epic OL haul this year, but that seems to have slipped away.

Well we got a lil extra NIL money to throw around now I guess

So now UGA is expressing interest in Sham. We could potentially be screwed. Adds a lot of intrigue to Friday. Hope he picks us.

Today's events have turned our recruiting world upside down.

Maybe but not necessarily. We've had a number of kids over the years that UGA ignored, talked down to, etc then thought they could jump in anytime and take them without really building any type of relationship. That's been their pattern at least for as long as I've been around. For some of the kids, their reaction was screw you, I've moved on. For some others they were blinded by the great UGA bullcrap and overlooked how they were dealt with earlier. Hard to tell how a kid reacts.

Agreed we have no idea how he reacts, but if he jumps to UGA, we're in serious trouble with OL recruiting.

"It's up to someone else to fund the product that I expect to get for free. I will also complain fiercely if they don't fund that product well enough to meet my satisfaction."

And for those using the logic that the program sucks and they won't donate to NIL until the program shows improvement, that's some pretty asinine logic. It's like stating that you won't invest in repairs until the car is running smoothly.
Texas A&M, Texas, Miami

They aren't crowdfunding their NIL to win these recruiting battles. I'm all about the collective effort, but don't let the wool be pulled over your eyes to think it's the fanbases fault if Spyre doesn't have enough bags. Especially this early in the game.

We need to get this system rearranged: we crowdfund the athletic department with our ticket and merch sales. Boosters should be funding the recruiting.

I don't think I've once referenced "fault". I haven't made a "should" argument. I'll leave that to you guys. I've made a "could" argument. The current setup allows fans to positively affect recruiting. That could make a difference.

If fans choose not to participate...whatever floats their boat. (But it doesn't make much sense to me to bitch and moan about recruiting efforts on messageboards and then poo poo the idea of donating $5 month to the efforts. That seems like a victim mentality to me. Claim to be negatively affected by something, cry about it, eschew any sense of ability or desire to change it, and keep bitching and moaning about it.)

Whatever. It's cool. This isn't a "should" issue as far as I'm concerned. It's a "could". The fanbase could affect positive change. If they choose not to, they choose not to. To each their own.
