I’m torn about it. Obviously we need depth at QB and will most likely play more than one QB behind the OL we have next year.

But also Dormady isn’t coming back if he thinks he isn’t winning a starting job. And I doubt they’d promise him more than the opportunity to compete for it.

We need to keep all of our current QBs for depth, but I don’t think another year of QB controversy will do any favors to our on field product either.

QB controversy can be very damning for a team with a weak minded head coach that doesn't want to clearly define roles. We all know Butch played both sides of the fence of the QB controversy. We can hope Pruitt will be stern, fair and won't play games in the media with the QBs. If he can do they we need all hands on deck and let the best QB emerge

Keep trying to wiggle out ofyour dumb statement that coach won’t add any QBs to the roster. You’re very desperate this morning

Can you link that post for me? TIA

Surely you wouldn’t make something up when you make a dumb statement and people point out how dumb it is.

So he was never lacking in toughness though.

Dormady’s biggest flaw is that he plays too scared. I’m not sure that’s a flaw that his other attributes can compensate for.

You would play scared too if your O line was swiss cheese. JG did the same stuff guys. Accept it.

I was very critical of Ainge when he was here because he always shied away from contact.
He's literally never would take a hit, never was sacked or scrambled. They are very comparable in that regard

Nor QD...but QD panics and JG has a terrible OL. Round and round we go.

QD at least had the starters. JG has Brooks for several games and a walk on at guard against Vandy. JG had about a second to get rid of the ball. Dormady threw off his back foot to the other team. I don’t get why this is so hard. I’d rather have a guy who holds the ball too long and takes a sack than a guy who throws into triple coverage cause he’s scared to get hit

Id rather have a guy that lead us to a come from behind victory...

It would be best for QD to give spring a shot. If he feels he has a great grasp on the offense and feels rhythm, come back. If not, then a transfer is honestly best. all QBs are on the same level right now with the reset.

I agree he needs to give spring a shot if healthy. I would love to see him stay on the roster for depth. The issue I see is that is delaying the inevitable for everyone. If he makes it in spring I foresee JG having progressed well past him and he won't be able to take the thought of riding the pine his senior season.

Remember the big "difference" between QD and JG last year was QD having more time in the system and understanding the offense. They now are on a level playing ground. Also at this point JG has more SEC experience than QD and performed at a higher level than QD against better competition. I think the kid is seeing the writing on the wall and is NOT a competitor.

Are we forgetting that JG was a freshman last year? With no run game and an OLine that at one point only had 5 scholly guys with 4 out of 5 being freshman?

The only person that would have escaped that massacre of a situation in the SEC is Dobbs.

I believe JG (as a freshman) performed well under the circumstances. Does he have room to improve? Absolutely. Will he take to coaching and take the right steps to improve? I already see that happening.

Just watch once the game starts slowing down for him as it does between the 1st and 2nd year for QBs JG is going to be REALLY good.

Dobbs was less than great as a freshman (but a true freshman, unlike Guarantano).

Thing is, Dormady turned the ball over way too much. Guarantano took way too many sacks. McBride just looked promising because he had some running ability, but IMO he looked to run too often and looked like he thought he was Johnny Manziel sometimes.

Who knows who will emerge out of that group. We need (at least) one of them to step up and improve. (I think they will — the question is how much.)

Alright back to talking to the intelligent people in here, I apologize.

Gotta keep QD. We’d be in a real bad spot without him. 2 inexperienced QBs and a couple freshmen. Injuries would kill us.

With Pruitt being a first time HC and a defensive guy, I think a lack of QB controversy would probably be good for his team in 2019 offensively. At the same time, I think our OL is so bad that going into the season with only 3 scholarship QBs is no bueno as well.

Kind of a lose/lose IMO.

Kelly threw two tds?

I don’t think anybody watching that game says Dormady had some great performance that led to the comeback. An explosive play from Callaway, a punt like throw that was a prayer that again Callaway made a play on were his Best throws. He did have a nice fade route to Callaway tho. But Kelly took the game over in the second half, not Dormady

Put the same O-line, just healthy, in a competent multiple pro style versus Butch's mess of a system and there would have been a much different result. The O-linemen he recruited were not RPO/zone read style players. So tell me again, how good was Butch at recruiting that he did not recruit to his system in virtually every position group except RB.

The zone blocking scheme for a RPO/zone read style offense is different than a zone blocking scheme for a multiple pro style. One shields the gap, the other drives whoever is in the way of the play call down the field. We had one guy do the later and he was a true freshman that had not had time enough for the coaching to mess him up.

Fair enough.
