youre excited ab this?

Going from 0-8 SEC and the biggest joke in college football to having Phil as AD, Pruitt as HC, a bama type support staff, new strength staff and oh yea a top 20ish class... yes I am very excited.

Also, have you ever thought that with Pruitt, all his staff and additional support people...maybe our talent evaluation is better now as a whole? Maybe some of the “low star guys” actuall will got a role and be productive.

Big picture here guys.

It’s exactly what Muschamp has done at SC

I really don't think this class is a huge dud. But it's not nearly as sparkly as we all hoped. Still have a shot at some potential fireworks. But it's not so bad that we're gonna fall off the map or anything.

The main reason this hurts to me is seeing our class compared to UGA. These top kids want to go somewhere stable and ready to win. Our perception is about as far from stable as you can get. The only way we get there is time and development of what we have.

Coaching was our biggest issue last year, not talent. Pruitt is gonna have to legitimize us on the field next season. We need to at least show some signs of a brighter future.

We can't be a punchline all off-season coming off an 0-8 conference record and expect to recruit the same as playoff teams. It sucks right now. But hopefully we found some pieces that will help us get there someday.

I'm staying positive.

Go big orange forever

When you are winless in conference and you squeak by cupcake teams. You become the joke. It's just the way it is.

If we start winning on the field, recruiting will take care of itself. Look at Alabama.

Player development is vastly more important this year than the recruiting class ranking.

Like I’ve said all along. I’d trade the right coach and system for any recruit. It’s one class and look at the circumstances. If you were a 5* are you coming here right now? It’s incredible that we were even in the discussion with some guys.

Yet we expect an elite 2019 class? The circumstances surrounding the product on the field may not be too different year over year.

No, that type of thinking creates a vicious cycle. But I do agree that while concerned, no reason to panic until we see where we are at a year from now.

true

just putting a major college level OL together is the first thing we should do. Its trash.

We went 0-8 in the SEC and people expect us to land 5* recruits left and right.

Makes sense.

No but if you look at what the other schools have gained today and what we are looking at that 0-8 is looking like the norm. Yes you need great coaching but you also need elite talent. It is not usual for schools in p5 conferences to out coach the talent. As the best hire we could have made with Pruitt I don't think he is going to break that change. This is one of the worst classes since Doofus. Gotta look at the big picture of what everyone did today not just us.

Problem is, we don’t yet know if we have the right coach or right system. It’s all up in the air!

What we do know is this class does not get us closer to the peak of the SEC and that in and of itself is a failure.

I don’t care about who we’re in the discussion for. I care about who we sign. And right now we’re signing guys that didn’t have offers two weeks ago and some Brent Hubbs described as “too raw, might be a good fit at MTSU.”

I trust all our staffs opinion of an athlete over Brent Hubbs. Hubbs also said Barnett could become a decent pass rusher eventually at UT when he signed here.

Stop paying so much attention to stars. I’m not gonna list off all the NFL players that were 2 and 3 stars.

i didnt see where ppl said they expect 5 stars left and right? who wrote that?

also doesnt change the fact that this isnt a good class for this conference. Just bc ppl state fatcs doesnt mean they are upset or delusional.

You're right about one thing. This class isn't that good.

You're wrong about another thing. Go back through the ITS, Griffin, Walker and football recruiting threads and tell me fans weren't expecting commitments from any one of those three players. It's one thing to hope. It's another thing to be all doom and gloom when they don't pick UT and say the class and NSD is a disaster. If that's the line of thinking, doesn't that mean there were MUCH higher expectations, in other words, expectations to land those 5* recruits?

People are getting caught up on missing out on the big names. The big picture is, did we fill positions of need? That could be a bigger miss than not hauling in the 5*s. We wanted a couple more CBs and a power back. Maybe we can pick up a few guys after NSD.

Facts aren't appreciated around here. We'd rather hang out and pretend like it's all pie in the sky baby.

Can't look at it like that cause there will always be two sides to the argument. Just as you say what if they're great, also look at what if they're duds and Pruit is a terrible coach. The reality is we are looking at around 10th in our conference and around 4th or 5th in our division. If we want to close the gap we got to get better all around. Hopefully coaching will improve but we have to get more elite talent.

Maybe its good that Bass hasn't showed up yet. Bass, if you read this post, go back, turn around, stop reading at this post, go outside and feel the sun on your face. We gonna be okay.

Welp, KV's and Chief's trust in Fulmer lasted all of 2 months. Glad to have the old versions back. This forum wouldn't have been the same without you.

Nah nah nah. I'm exited about the direction that I think this program is headed under Fulmer and Pruitt. Very excited. I'm just disappointed in how this class turned out. That's it.

The big picture is that this staff, widely known for its recruiting prowess, was working with a short window due to the implementation of the early signing period as well as dealing with a program coming off of an 0-8 conference record. Is it such a bad thing to have realistic expectations when working against those odds? The biggest problem with fans today is the need for instant results, which in this case is NSD 2018.

Sorry we couldn't pull of an Ole Miss / Hugh Freeze year 0 for you.

I think there are many of these kids that didn't feel comfortable with going to a program that has not been able to develop other players while they were here. This will all come down to if this staff can make some of the players on this roster into NFL caliber players. That is the bottom line. If there is improvement this year, next years recruiting class should be top 5-10. It will come down to can this staff coach up players.

All of you pissing and moaning about us going after the 5 stars and not more mid level to lower ranked 4 stars now would be pissing and moaning about not going after highly ranked 5 stars if this staff would have. You can never be happy, you all live in a pit of misery.
