That is pretty normal for everywhere I've ever lived...but not "mommy"..I mean every single person that lives here in Harlan county, that is from here, calls their mother that, like a little baby...It is weird.

I had a case in Harlan a couple of years back. The lack of industry following the declining coal industry makes for such a depressed economy over there as opposed to the relatively thriving economy in East Tennessee (due in large part to the tourism industry). It's saddening

Belton - (Baileyton)
Sī-ōh-theee - (Sciota)

First time I heard Belton I thought it was due to the gentleman having mush mouth (he did), but have heard it many times since then. I was embarrassed in having him repeat it 4 times.

My favorite TN city produnciations:

-Anywhere that’s a “ville” replace with “vul.”
-Shebvul
-Tellahoma
-Mt. Jewyit
-Lebnun
-Still not sure about Pall Mall
-Murfurburur
-Memph
-Jonesburr
-Covindon
-Murvul
-Sweetwata
-Lobulvul
Luh fall let

At least we don't say "hit" instead of "it" or call a chimney a "chimley" like these idiots in Kentucky...also it is so weird to hear literally every single person from toddler to 100 call their mothers..mommy..not mom or momma, but...mommy.

Oh I hear plenty of people around where I live say “hit”, and chimley, and “wreckerd”.... the ones I hate the worst are “oncet” for once and “twicet” for twice. Also know people who say worser.

We have a sizable cult in the north Georgia area that use the word Pacific...even though they aren't talking about a body of water. Drive me nuts!!

Depending on who you ask

Seymour is nice and not horribly crowded yet. Property is still very reasonable there.

That's where we live as well. But most of the family is in Sevierville and Pigeon Forge.

How long have you lived in Seymour? We moved here in '85.

You'uns need to get over this anti-chimleys stuff. Errbody knows that's what they's called up in them Smokees.

My family still runs a cattle up there. It’s beautiful country, but starting to get a lot of houses built up also. I know every back road in that part of the country some of the best fishing, hunting and waterfalls there are.

Are you lonely cow? You need some cow friends don't you? Well, we'll talk to tnhunter's family and see about getting you some friends. Okay?
