I am not saying that it is just Tennessee, but I fully believe the refs are told to favor certain teams at certain times for certain reasons. Take the Kentucky versus Missouri game on Saturday for example… If that is defensive pass interference on Missouri, then there is no way that that is not offensive pass interference against Kentucky. I do not gamble, but I would be willing to bet that Georgia gets favored with calls on Saturday against Kentucky, because the SEC knows that a Georgia versus Alabama championship game will bring in a lot more money than Alabama versus Kentucky. Also, if Kentucky loses, the refs will most likely favor us in the game next Saturday, because It will give us a much better chance to make it to a bowl by winning that game, thus bringing more money into the SEC. You can be naïve or not, but it is as clear as daylight that favoritism occurs in certain games.
It shouldn't have been a surprise win at all. We beat Auburn OTR and Auburn is probably a better team than SCAR, which had been struggling. We should have won that game, even with the egregious calls and no-calls. I don't see why so many UT fans want to tiptoe around being mad at a loss. We should be mad as hell, the players should be mad as hell and the coaches should be mad as hell about blowing a lead and finding a way to lose. Get mad, then channel that anger into action. None of which says anything about firing anybody or putting blame on any one position group.
go to the FF....lol.The subtext is UT fans shouldn't be disappointed with losing a game the Vols weren't favored to win, that beating SCAR would have been a large upset and the fan reaction to losing the game is over-the-top. I agree that judging our staff on one loss is over-the-top... but I haven't heard or seen anybody make the claim that this staff isn't right for the job because of this loss. If you don't see that, fair enough.
Chris Lowe said we would have basically gotten right back to peak Fulmer success had we hired Cut in January 2010. And he wanted the job. But Hamilton and other money people thought they could do better and that Cut was an extension of Fulmer. So they slow played him and he said thanks but no thanks.
You'd think that Vols fans could deal with losses at this point in the program's history. Not directly calling anyone out, but every week there are discussions on here about Pruitt or Helton being the right picks to move us forward. I know this is a message board, and the whole point of it is to have a place to express whatever you're feeling about the state of the program, but man, can we just put this all in perspective? Based on the first 4 games of the season, I didn't expect to even be competitive against USCe. I wanted that win, and we definitely could have gotten if we had made a few more plays. Losing that game is not indicative of anything other than an in-game failure. We're on the right track. Take the losses and be ready to bounce back once we've got the experience (both on the staff and the roster) and the talent to dominate and close out games, especially on the road. GBO
Eh, I watched Tiny Richardson, Jawuan James and Trey Smith come in and be great linemen. If you’re good you’re going to play.A first year freshman vs a rs so jr or sr that has been in an sec s&c program a couple of years. Idc how talented they are until they get a couple of years in the weight room.
I don't disagree, but you might find out why Rob wrote what he did. It sounded like he was responding to people suggesting that this staff isn't the answer and doesn't appear to be good. If that's the case, then you agree with him, in a way. You might understand his true meaning before calling it baloney.
