Butch's tenure was worse. Dooley was only here three years. It's true he left us without much OL depth and his other recruits were a step lower than other SEC teams. His teams were never going to get over the hump because he just couldn't recruit. But his tenure was short.

Butch was here 5 years, left us with limited resources, and gave us a public perception black-eye. The "Champions of Life" nonsense, player abuse allegations, 8 loss season, and misuse of the good recruits he was able to attract left us in a really bad place moving forward. Not only do we have to rebuild the roster, we have to rebuild our reputation.

I hope that fool never gets another chance to be a head coach.

Dooley left the program about the same in talent. Regardless of personal feelings, S&C, whatever, Butch left a better roster than he inherited.

But it’s time to keep recruiting and get better.

I disagree. Butch left the roster exactly as he found it, particularly at OL and DL.

This has been discussed previously, and I probably should have refrained because it has been hashed and re-hashed. Other than the OL, his first roster was awful. I don’t think it’s even close, but that’s JMO.

Shoop likes to use a nickel as more of a hybrid LB to stop the run. Butch hated it. Thus we sucked against the run.
So I guess Bozo thought he was a better defensive coordinator than Bobby Shoop. I mean that's how he got the Tennessee job, his coaching acumen on the defensive side of the ball.
