We are gonna win 10 with the bowl. Book it.

If they had said that they actually took a step forward, it would have been much more encouraging. It is often what the leave unsaid that tells you what you need to know.

Hey, I'm an optimist myself, but I think that one statement speaks volumes. I'm not gonna overlook reality. The future looks bright, I'm just not so certain about the immediate future (the upcoming season) - not that I expect any more 5 win seasons either.

I haven’t really commented on this yet but sometimes wisdom doesn’t come with age. I thought after UT-UK III a lot of people were going to tune out. Not fans of course, but most of the rest of the country. I had a situation like this a couple of times in AAU basketball. One year we had to go up against a hated rival in the semifinals of the state tournament. Their fans were the loud obnoxious type. We weren’t expected to win but we did and it was the best game we played the whole tournament. The kids were just determined and their effort showed. I thought we had a good shot at the championship but we pretty much came out an laid an egg.

A few, probably a really small number actually, of our fans remind me of Dudley from Harry Potter when he got all bent out of shape because the number of his birthday presents wasn’t up to his level of greed and he wanted to make sure everyone knew about it. It was all about him. All the time.

I remember in the spring of 1982. I was working on starting up a power plant just down the river from Aberdeen, Ohio on the Kentucky-Ohio border. As soon as I could get off work and get cleaned up I was flying down the backroads of northeastern Kentucky trying to get to Rupp in Lexington as soon as possible. I was 25 years old at the time. There were no speed limits. Anywhere. Not that I was aware of.

It was the SEC tournament. I don’t remember the outcome of a single game. Maybe if we had won everything I would have remembered that. It’s been 37 years after all. One thing I’ve not forgotten was how much I really enjoyed watching Dale Ellis on the basketball court. I was very fortunate and it’s one of my fondest memories of Tennessee basketball.

I’m not going to tell anyone else what to say or think but how many times are we likely to have a guy on our team who is the back-to-back SEC player of the year? How many times are we likely to have a player that is as likeable and engaging as the Admiral? And how many times are we apt to have what I consider the often unsung underrated hero that is Jordan Bone?

I don’t know how far these guys are going to go in the tournament. I really don’t care other than it’s one more chance to watch them play. Almost universally the guys on this team are described as being very classy. We’re incredibly fortunate that they came our way. jmo.

I didn't get to see the SECT championship game, but was able to follow the score and stats on my phone. Can someone kindly summarize how things went so terribly wrong...like for instance, did Admiral actually attend the game?

And no, I didn't read through the 30 pages of VN during the game...don't hate me, but some of y'all get me down at times like that.

I always wondered why the other guys didn't get more minutes in lopsided wins. Let them get game experience.
CRB has stated he believes it is disrespectful to the opponent to clear the bench in the final minutes. Understand it would be good to work the reserves in more though players earn playing time. Two way street

Grant, Dadmiral and bone didn’t play very well. We had like 19 TO’s and something like 7 consecutive. We made a little run at the end but Auburn was too hot from 3 to even make it interesting

Short version: we lost.

So nobody sick or injured or anything like that. Sounds like they left it all on the court against UK. I can respect that.

This is an awesome post. I told my husband that going to see THIS team play is what I wanted for my birthday (And I got it) Regardless of the outcome, this is a special coach and bunch of players. Already have broken many records, even if we didn't win the SEC this year. If you are a VOLS fan (and alive) you had to see Pat coach, or watch Peyton Manning. Go see one game of that 1998 season (if you could get tickets) This team fits right up there with that.

This season for me is Grant willing that comeback against Vanderbilt and hitting 23 of 23 from the stripe on the way to 43 points, or Kyle Alexander having 17 boards at Missouri and scoring 14 points, or Jordan Bone shooting 100% from 3 to hang 27 on Kentucky in a 19 point curb stomping rematch, Jordan Bowden's dunk against Vanderbilt, Admiral's dagger 3 against the #1 team in the nation, Admiral posterizing the MSU player, Turner playing lights out in the SEC championship game, Pons' 2 handed block at the rim, Kyle finally showing some emotion against MSU when he got his first Technical.

It's been an amazing season, regardless of what happens in the NCAA...but I want them to keep playing as long as possible, so I can keep watching this special team. The best I've seen so far in my lifetime.

We had about a 6 minute stretch in the middle of the first half where we had 0 FG, 7 TO's, and 1 point. Can't beat a good team doing that. Had alot of losing the ball and making bad passes.

We cut it to 9 at half, and I thought we were ok. Auburn shot lights out in the second half, and many were contested shots.
