JG sliding before getting the first down is the play that may have changed the whole game. We didn’t get the 3rd and 1 and had to punt.

Or maybe the defense doesn't let them rumble 81 yards for a TD on a 6 1/2 minute drive after we punted. Or the OL pushes for 1 freakin yard on the qb sneak. JG was headed right and 2 guys lined up right over the center. Kennedy took 1 and Trey didn't get the other and immediately hit JG. Just maybe...but nah he ran for it on a smart play and spitballed the slide and was 1 yd short. Jeez what a bum...Pretty sure he's taught to slide as well. Everyone is. Christ. Put it all on him though. It's easier to simplify a game to 1 player or even 1 player. If only that was reality.

I don't think many fans or posters on here fully understand the depth of incompetency that happened Saturday. Let's just take our D, since they lost the game. Pruitt and Ansley could not even get some of their players on the field at the right times. The players did not even know where to line up, much less handle their assignment. They rotated guys in and out faster than a McDonald's drive-thru. We all know how poorly the players performed. Against Georgia State. BYU has the film. BYU held their own for 3 quarters against a top 10 Utah. They had 300 yards O against a quality D. They saw our circus and saw the players reactions to what they saw with each play. You think the staff that "developed" this team to be like this will be able to change it all in less than a week? Add in Bituli and Thompson probably will not play.

I sincerely hope they do turn it around and win. Then we can somehow attribute the worst loss in program history to a bad day at the office. But am I picking the Vols to win - nope.

I really think they just thought they would trot out there and walk away with a win. Problem is, Gast had game planned for this game since February, and only this game. They held nothing back and beat us with 4 plays over and over.

Coaching staff and players were humbled to say the least.

IMO the fan reaction to the loss will do almost as much damage to a future recruiting class as the actual embarrassing loss. If Vol Fans show they still support the coaches and players, that will do more in the eyes of future recruits than anything else.

I get all of that but some of us started in diapers trying to even say Go Big Orange and now we're in diapers again trying to say Go Big Orange with a straight face....I ain't got time for this chit. Have we ever had a blow out game with him as quarterback? I admit, sometimes I wonder if he's afraid for us to see the other candidates at that position. We can't really be that bad, can we? Then I remember that this is the guy who has been the QB when we set all the records as the worst of the worst.

People have to wrap their around Chaney actually knowing QBs and there appears to be zero race going on at any point for starter. Neither has even set themselves apart in the race for QB2! But y'know the backup is always the favorite QB.
