Guess our swag science doesn’t concur. You don’t have to go to the level of Mayfield histrionics to possess it. And I wasn’t endorsing JG’s brand of such. How loud Mayfield screams isn’t what sets him apart.bro JG's swagger is fake af. If you don't show it on the field then you don't have real swag. Its about energy. Running around making plays, forcing the action, being in your teammates ears, etc. When is the camera on Mayfield and he's not a ball of energy?
Why do we care so much when they obviously don’t
"Expectations. I know everyone in this room is excited. I'm going to tell you what my expectations are. You're expectations are going to be near what mine are. My expectation is to win every game that we play. That is the expectation that I have. I am a firm believer that our players are going to take on the personality of their head coach."
Here is the reality: We are nowhere near talented enough to be relevant. Not just elite, but even good. We lack so much talent compared to other SEC teams its not even funny. There was optimism because of recruiting. Pruitt and Nieds can recruit. And they'll get us to relevancy. And then, after winning 8-9 games, they'll recruit even more talent and eventually, after putting together 3-4 years of top 10 recruiting classes we'll be ready to compete for championships. We'll be ready to be elite again.
Well, if this season goes the way it looks like it is about to, then recruiting will die. I don't care if its Nieds, Tee, Ansley and Pruitt out there. Recruiting will die. Then what? How do we recover from that? I'm not sure that we can. The future is very concerning right now.

Recruiting is the most important thing right nowSounds like you have come down off the ledge. No excuses for the abomination that occurred Saturday but you would be kidding yourself to think TN is not bottom 4 in the SEC for talent. That being said with the implementation of the 25 a year limit it takes longer to flip a roster. Add that to coaching search disaster and it being the first year of ESD and you can’t even count his first recruiting class.
I am by no fan of the RTI podcast but they were saying as much as well. This is a long rebuild and what sucks is you won’t even know if you have right guy until year 3 or 4.
I also agree with your last post in that a 4 or 5 win campaign and recruiting takes a nose dive.
Wow dude you need an Inky Johnson speech. Don't you remeber that Tennessee don't take the back seat to nobody. Our fanbase has become really sad. I'd rather them bulldoze the stadium down then to settle for winning seasons. We don't need Pruitt, he needs us. He took this job, if he's not willing to do what it takes to win, his career will suffer. We have enough money to make a coach the highest paid. I'll say it again, it's this defeatist attitude that's our problem. Look at what we've done in basketball. We need to start hiring football coaches like we've hired basketball coaches. It's simple, hire the best coach available and pay them market value.Who would we get? Seriously, who? Who would come here with where we are as a program right now? Even if we offered a Jimbo type deal, which we wouldn't, I highly doubt anyone would take it. At least Miles or Richt can restore respectability to this program and be a stepping stone to the next guy. That's what we need. It's a lot of work.
This is why I hope Pruitt works out. I've taken my optimistic glasses off. We are 4-5 years away from even thinking about competing for championships. We need Pruitt to be here for the long haul. I hope he is. Saturday might tell us a lot.
