I’d rather lose with a guy who cares and tries to lead than with JG who will lose and defend himself as tho he played great.
Great? He said not too good, not too bad. Critique if you want, but don't need disingenuous warping of statements. And how exactly did he play? Yall actin like he was 10/30 for 50 yards and 4 picks lmao. He didn't play great, I'd say mediocre given the opponent, but only the fans are acting like he was terrible. No coach or analyst.
His main negative plays were sacks and his pick. Below I try to breakdown each one. Please add any thoughts if anyone see it differently or additional info.
Sack 1 - 4:50 3rd Quarter. Complete and utter bust by Wanya Morris. As stated by the commentator.
Sack 2 (fumble) - 7:19 4th Quarter. CB blitz perfectly timed and unblocked. Just no way to see it coming as the CB is literally still staring down his receiver all the way up till JG receives the snap. Happened to be a setting up a deep throw to his right and he never had a chance. Not sure it's on anyone, though the wr on the bottom with Callaway could have maybe chipped him or impeded his path for a split second.
Sack 3 - 4:35 4th quarter. This one he identifies and points it out to Gray. Gray gets blown up right into JG. JG should have stepped to his right and up in the pocket a tad here.
Sack 4 - 2:37 4th quarter. This is on him. Counted 4.5 seconds to do something. Maybe no one was open, can't tell on tv, but gotta let it sling here. Sort of like his interception, it sucks, but gotta go for it or throw it out of bounds. He finally decides to take off and runs right into a lineman that Tatum eventually whiffs on against a nasty spin.
Int - 4:15 4th quarter. They only bring 4, 3 on the line, and a delayed lb blitz up the gut. We have our 5 + Gray leaking out right through the middle. Somehow Trey completely doesn't see the blitzer at all and Gray doesn't even attempt a chip block on his way out. Had he, there may have been a window to get it to him. Instead the blitzer is perfectly between Gray and JG, taking away the short throw. JG forces an ill advised pass with pressure right in his face where he absolutely can't take another sack. Not a good choice, but he had to try and do something. Flat poor blocking killed the play, desperation by JG ended it.
