I think that’s got to be the case. I’m sure Chaney and Ansley (and maybe Fitz) make up the biggest chunk of that.
It’s why I don’t think - if it comes to it - that they’ll fire anyone but the HC. Promote from within, or hire someone that’ll come by themselves, then let the coaches who don’t want to be here walk on their own.

No sir. I just don’t think we’re doing ourselves justice as a fanbase if we allow ourselves to jump back in after BYU and UTC.

Those are games 99% of us expected to win this offseason. I get you adjust expectations based on results - but to me this ship has left the port.

Go beat Florida, or look semi-competent down there and I’ll be willing to say something has changed.

All Saturday will tell me is if it's a complete lost cause and the train has completely jumped the track. In other words Pruitt is done it's just a matter of when.

I didnt expect a win in Gainesville before Sat and that definitely hasn't changed. State, SC, Mizzou, UK and Vandy were the schedule in regards to making wins. That hasn't changed.

We take our leisure time to enjoy football. We have no responsibility in this. If there is no enjoyment, we are inclined to seek entertainment elsewhere

C'mon. You can't really believe that part about seeking entertainment elsewhere. We're addicts. We're beyond obsessive. They have never and will likely never be able to invent a patch or pill or develop a 12-step program that could help us kick our addiction. The folks who move on don't really have our problem. We're hardcore and incurable. Now you may be in denial but Nick, as a friend, I have to tell you the truth. You have the same problem I and many others here have. You're a Vol for Life. Might as well just go ahead and own up to it. jmo.

Baffles me. I saw a great game plan and improvement against Auburn and Kentucky, even with a terrible o-line.

I think those 2 games were outliers. I know in the Auburn game JG threw up a lot of 50/50 balls where our receivers went up and made plays. We also benefited from turnovers.

That’s why a lot of fans are upset with him. This game he just went to his check downs. Didn’t make any throws were he trusted and gave his senior receivers a chance to go up and make plays.

That being said the defense is worse this season. Gonna be tough to win low scoring games.

IF Pruitt is fired, I agree that the next hire would be from within. Main reason would be because it would be hard to find a good coach that would come to UT. The only way this would work out would be if Pruitt was the only problem and not the other coaches. I have a hard time believing this to be the case.

Yeah, the Auburn game plan seemed to be “get into a lot of third and longs and then throw it up.” The South Carolina game was actually the better plan but we screwed that up.

This is where I'm at as well, though I still think 6-6 is on the table. This looked like a team that prepped for Florida all week, minus a 30 minute walk through for Georgia State. We can't just walk on the field and win because our jerseys are Orange with a T on the helmet. You may be able to use a week like this to prep for a big opponent at Alabama, but we ain't nowhere close to that yet.

And yet the Citadel gave mighty Bama fits for a half last year.

It’s going to be irritating if we look totally incompetent this weekend but win like a 10-9 slugfest.

Winning is better than losing, sure. But it does nothing for us moving forward.

We need to see real progress - not just get a result.

The Pruitt/GA ST game kinda reminds me of when Derek Mason was hired at Vandy. He was also a P5 DC that had never been a HC. Remember the circus when he tried to play about 3 QBs in every game. The circus lasted about 2 years. We all made fun of him. After his first 2 years, he finally settled in and Vandy has gotten better just about every year since.

BYU is just good enough to be exactly the kind of litmus test we need at the moment.

If last Saturday was just a fluke, we’ll win relatively handily and we can all catch our collective breath and regain some hope for the future.

If last Saturday was just who we are, we’ll be embarrassed again in our own stadium and we’ll know that the season is basically unsalvageable.
