Shrout didn’t throw any ducks and didn’t throw any interceptions during the Orange and White game.

Was thinkin more Maurer there. Shrout threw well overall, though threw about 4 balls across the middle to no one or the ground. Had 1 pick, though they called it a touch sack as he threw it. And he took 3-4 sacks in half a game of playing time...

Again, I thought he threw a nice ball a majority of the time, but ultimately there are reasons why him and Maurer aren't pushing JG and combined to only put up 10 points in a Spring game.

I don’t get why Elijah Simmons didn’t play Saturday and is buried on the depth chart next week. Everyone that saw practice was singing his praises.

Happens every year with Freshmen and camp buzz tbh.

Guys like Gray and Burrell got shots being at skill positions. In the trenches as a true freshman it's a whole different story. No coach WANTS to play freshman along the lines. But if he can earn pt, Pruitt will certainly play him.

Watching the game again my biggest take away is our defensive containment. The game was ugly regardless, however I believe if our containment on the edges was better we'd have won the game. Guys were taking the inside angle on every play, almost every single player.. leaving the outsides open

Yes. I'd be interested to see rushing yards outside vs inside. Felt like we were fine inside, terrible outside.

Heard from a couple people that some money guys are pumping up Chaney behind the scenes. Said he was brought in help Pruitt navigate through the first year head coach pitfalls and he will be the guy they turn to first if the nightmare scenario happens and Pruitt can’t get it done.

They didn’t pay him all that money for nothing.

Edited for clarity
Oh joy the money guys are going to save us again with their great ideas and vast football knowledge. FFS they are what's rotten here and have been for too long.

I'm not mad anymore I'm just sad

I'm still mad and sad.

I’m not a JG hater or least I haven’t been. Last year, somewhere back near the beginning of this thread, I said he needed to be more like Darth Vader. I’ve often thought though I don’t recall posting that he was a quarterback trying to play football rather than a football player trying to play quarterback. I think there’s a huge mental difference. I’m not saying he doesn’t get it but he may not and if he doesn’t I doubt that can ever be fixed. Even with that said, he still may be the best we have. I also think his parents spoiled him to some extent. jmo.

I’m not sure Jeremy Pruitt is all that much of a football coach. I know he’s not much as a head coach. He built a resume by riding Saban and Fisher’s coattails, and to some extent Richt’s, but I don’t think he’s cut out to handle something like this on his own. I thought he screwed up from game 1 last year with the coaching seminar during the hour plus delay of the West Virginia game and there are so many mistakes he’s made since. There are countless mistakes he has yet to make and the bad thing about that is I don’t think he learns from his mistakes. He’s learned to say the right things but I don’t think he gets it. The thing that is foreign to him is understanding the role and concepts associated with being a head coach. I don’t know if I would ever trust him again. jmo.

I can’t and don’t want to quit Tennessee football but I’m not sure I care whether we win or lose this week. I don’t care about recruiting, not right now. It’s not that important. Until we fix our coaching problem nothing else matters or it won’t matter. That’s where I’m at. I think we could win a game or two here and there but I’m not sure it would matter in the long run.

Jeremy Pruitt by all accounts came into this season expecting a big jump from his year 1 to his year 2. Last year many thought he lost his team. These kids have been playing football for a while. Jeremy, with all his narcissism, did not invent the game. He just led his players to perhaps the most embarrassing humiliation probably of their entire experience with the game, at least for most of them. That’s going to be with them for the rest of their lives. Did you really think negative recruiting couldn’t get any worse?

I’m not sure he’ll make it through the full season this year. I’m guessing he’s asked for 4 or 5 games to prove he can handle the job. He’s definitely the underdog right now. The thing about coaching at one of the big six schools in the SEC, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee (and maybe Texas A&M now) if you’re the head coach and you aren’t winning your ass will be on the hot seat. It’s a fact of life in the SEC for those schools. We’re not Vandy or Kentucky or Missouri or any of the others. We’re Tennessee. At least for the moment we still believe we are. You can’t get away with that here, not with most of our fanbase. It will be interesting to see if he can handle that and still function at the level necessary. Some guys can; some guys can’t. Those that do survive for a little longer. Those that don’t end up as interns, or tight ends coaches, or TV commentators, or take a gig coaching Central Michigan or some such.

I appreciate VolNation and the variety of perspectives shared here. I don’t put people on ignore, no matter how many times I cuss the computer screen. The only thing I would change is I would like for Freak to figure out some way to serve alcohol and/or maybe weed in the forum. It could be restricted to this thread so as to keep the football forum family friendly. I think that would be a really good project for his next upgrade. jmo.

Why r u being a dik? I was just reporting what was actually written. I’ll just let Ron share info from now on, not worth my time being attacked.

Dropping a quote like that, clearly out of context, is not akin to "just reporting" or sharing info. You know what you were doing, don't play your victim card now.

So with 12min to go and an 11 pt lead ND has snapped the ball in back to back plays with over 20seconds on the play clock

I’ll be damned if I’ll ever understand this style of football
Too early to let up or adjust rythm imo. That is Butch at Florida 2015. If you're winning by using some tempo, wouldn't adjust that early. Figure if your optimal offense is using some tempo and wearing them out vs "eating clock" and letting them get set. First, your optimal offense will move the ball more often. But let's assume for this you go 3 and out regardless. Then the difference of snapping at 25 vs 5 seconds is a mere 40 for the drive. Weighing 40 seconds vs pushing your opponent with your best scheme and tempo just isn't worth it yet I think.

Like had Ga St slowed way down in the 4th rather than snapping with 12 men on the field...or our guys completely out of whack...who knows? Their very last drive of the game they did this. 3 straight runs letting us get set and we ate it up no problem. While tempo has been curbed some, it is still very effective.

Like I said, I literally posted the exact quote from Brent. I don’t know how I could have done it any differently other than just not posting his quote at all. I’m at a loss here dude. I’m sorry for trying to bring info, won’t happen again. I’ll let Ron handle it from now on. Brent said a lot of alarming things yesterday, and that is my interpretation of his posts that I have read over the last decade or so. Ron agreed that it was alarming, don’t know what else I can say at this point.

Honestly, losing my dog this weekend made me get over the loss pretty quickly. So I'm just reading most of your headless chicken posts like
