We had no chance at true success. Poor evaluations/recruiting across 2 staffs.

To be fair, Harrison Bailey seemed like a sure fire good college quarterback. He had a lot of knowledgeable people singing his praises and I thought he was going to be very good for us too.

I'm guilty as well as far as singing his praises. I also ignored some glaring issues bc I liked the kid and wanted him to succeed here.

I recently got a Blackstone griddle. It hit me this morning as I was frying some hash browns that I am a de-facto Waffle House now. With four kids I’m pretty much a short-order cook anyway. As part of this privilege, I will welcome any and all VN fights that do not need the full WH adjudication process. I do ask you bring beer so I can watch though.
So, you and your wife throw down in the kitchen? Interesting.

That was changing right before he come here…. Rumors/stories that scouts didn’t like him…. Chaney didn’t want him and such…..if Maurer wasn’t so mentally off then Harrison Bailey would have been running fourth on our depth chart.

Early on. But it seemed he peaked early. Then it was Mike Farrell fighting for him, as opposed to the rest that were dropping him. The critisicms never really changed. But it was hard to ignore his HS production too. Though hs production is just that, especially with the crazy amount of talent around him.

I think Patterson and TCU were a great fit but I don't see Patterson succeeding at Nebraska in the BIG. I don't think he would be able to recruit fast enough defensive players.
Speed was never an issue at TCU. He’s a step up from their past few coaches…if he’s engaged. THAT is the big IF. That area was lacking the last few seasons imo.

That was the one thing that always stuck out. I remember at one of those camps the coaches ranked him pretty well, but then the players got to rank everyone and he was near last on their list, by his own peers.

Plus none of his own class teammates followed him.

Then there was the OL situation where everyone let him sit on the ground after he got sacked...

No it wasn't an issue at TCU but I don't think he would be able to recruit fast enough players at Nebraska to run the defense that he wants. I agree that Patterson did not seem very engaged the last few seasons. It almost seemed like he realized that he had reached his peak at TCU and would never have a chance at a higher level of success.
