I thought your GF was giving you the evil female stink eye (oh okay, I embellished some), and were calling it a night? Look fellar, if you’re going to keep posting after your blockbuster day, warn some of us older Vol fans. We need time to regroup.
He IS one of us. I've said it before...if I were to be concerned about Heupel ever leaving, that concern would only be about the NFL; I don't see him EVER leaving for another college job...and, the NFL really doesn't concern me at all, neither. The parts I like most about this are CJH saying "I love OUR classic uniforms" and "...it's part of OUR tradition". It's as if though he's one of US.
But yet we have had conversations on here on about how good Golesh has been as an OC and hoping to hang on to him as long as we can. I believe CH lets him calls the plays but CH does listen of course like I'm sure he does the DC and may override some if he feels its needed. Maybe they avoid the question when asked cause they don't want anyone knowing anything they do. Just the the black covers that follow them the whole game. lol
What are you reading? I just finally finished my 2nd read through of TWoT last week.Random but I love how Brandon Sanderson has an ability to accurately put to word mental illnesses that are hard to understand
Lol...that went in the slaughter bank for next year...so stupid.I haven’t seen any video….. we were near the band at the end of the game…. Our tradition goes….. several of our players run to the band after the game to sing with them….. it is near where Missouri exited the field…. About 5-6 of their players stopped and got into a shoving match with some of our guys(Hooker) was one of them…. Staffers stepped in between the players and a lot of trash talk happened for a few more minutes before the Missouri coaches got the rest of the players into the tunnel…. After that…. Hooker ran over and started leading the band.
Interesting. When I shared the video of HH post-game (I think it was of him going to direct the band), my daughter said "was there a fight?" Because you could see something in background (guys sorta start trotting towards the activity instead of just walking around shaking hands) but I couldn't tell for sure what was happening.I haven’t seen any video….. we were near the band at the end of the game…. It had a chance to turn into something much more but their was enough staff over there to limit the fight between the two teams.Interesting. I don’t take any offense to anything…. Just love talking football…As for Golesh…. He had never been an OC before being co-offensive coordinator at UCF in 2020. He wasn’t the play caller there so I doubt he would turn over the reigns at a stressful job like Tennessee. I would guess that Golesh is reporting down to Heup what he sees and any areas that he thinks he can exploit…. Heup is helping Golesh build his resume and gave him a really good title to be able to lure him to UCF and eventually… Golesh has always been organized(recruiting coordinator at many stops) and a great communicator. Not many offensive gurus turn over the play calling to someone else.I have no idea but I sure could understand it if Kiffin did. I have no clue about any of this but it was a really good discussion point that Volbeast brought up. To volbeast just to make sure, I enjoyed the talk and I wasn't trying to disagree with you for the heck of it I. Just my thoughts on the subject and they could be absolutely all wrong.
That's awesome........Well done!
That attitude is coming to our conference. The whole everything is bigger and better in Texas attitude.
They assume that everybody wants to live there and it’s the best state in America. Gag. I hate Texas And Texans.
What are you worried about?? Our program is a playoff contender in year 2 under Heupel? Who in their right mind would want to go anywhere else than Tennessee right now? If guys want to go elsewhere and chase money, then go. They will get ample opportunity to make money at TN, however, Heupel will not change the culture to appease anyone. This culture has us exactly where we are now with what everyone considers lower rated guys. Keep the culture and if guys want to be a part of that and work hard, then great! If they don’t, then someone else will take their spot. I have absolutely zero worries about recruiting anymore.I'm gonna be a nervous wreck by the time the Early Signing Period gets here, hoping that none of our guys flip. @VolByLaw and his AP rumors are making me nervous about our DBs.
MJ was viewed as a jerk off the court.I think you have to be careful because we all love competitors but there's a fine line between someone being viewed as fierce on the field and a jerk off of it. What made MJ a mega star wasn't his game (it was great) but his image and that was specifically as Mr. Apple Pie All American. No one would "Want to be like Mike" or for their kids to be "like Mike" if Mike's public image wasn't as refined as it was. And I don't know if MJ being MJ could've maintained that image in the social media age.
Teams/franchises had so much more power over the narrative back then as long as an athlete, politician, or performer stayed out of serious criminal trouble (and sometimes even if they didn't) interested companies and parties that had a lot riding on those images could keep the faces of their franchises squeaky clean.
You can't do that today. If someone goes out and acts like an ass in public (and sometimes even in private) we hear about it. There's often video of it and it doesn't go away whenever that day's newspaper is thrown out.
You want Hooker coming out of the pile mad as hell during the Florida game and firing his team up. That's great television and it's competition at its finest but you don't want him to get a rep as the guy that goes after random folks online or takes every little slight too seriously. That can turn on us and him.
To be clear, I don't think that's happening at all but it's an example of how things can turn. Hendon's a celebrity now and he's got to walk a finer line than he used to walk or he can easily fall into a trap. People are going to come after him and he's going to have to be able to let the little things go. It's part of the price of fame. To be fair though, I don't think it will be a problem for him. Everything he's done here has been competitiveness on the field and total class of the field.
