I genuinely think we might be stuck at 9. Injuries piling up and Vandy has a decent QB. Still the best regular season since 2007 but would end as a total wet fart.
I'll take that bet. All day.

We're not done yet. Not Heupel's culture. We'll keep fighting I can promise you that.

This. This may get lost in the night, but nothing about NIL deals. Staff has managed Banks well, but he went back to old self. Can’t get into it with starting QB and expect to be scotch free
Why did he go after Hooker then? It made more sense when pure jealousy and greed was involved.

I think last night was just a perfect storm of bad circumstances all adding up. Somewhat similar to USC 2016, actually.

-Offense was slightly off (but did enough to win, barring Hooker's injury)

-Quite likely some truth to the Banks rumors, so our already bad defense may have been checked out or discombobulated

-Rattler played damn near perfect

-Refs were letting USC get away with a lot of holding and nailed us on some iffy penalties

-Gamecocks started red hot and had momentum for virtually the entire game, creating a hostile environment that our team wasn't expecting

-Coaches and players likely overlooked USC to a degree

Rattler playing perfect is probably the biggest factor, to be honest. Even with everything else going on, we still win that game if he's average and misses some throws. But he was Mahomes out there.
He went Guarantano vs Auburn 2018 on us.

There’s two rumors going around on twitter. One over NIL. The other rumor is they have a team rule if you step on the T in the locker room you do push-ups, Banks stepped on the T refused to do pushups, hooker pressed him about it and Banks got in his face. Milton separated them and held banks against the lockers.

It seems as if enough of the old culture cancer was left on the team to completetly derail a beautiful season...hiding in plain site, silently waiting for the perfect chance to kill the program just when it seemed it had finally been eradicated.

Heupel being so far ahead of schedule with this bunch was too good to be true...and the cancer may have done it's job extremely well last night.

Rattler looked like what everyone thought Rattler had the potential to look like coming out of HS. Why it happened last night, idk. Defense obv plays a role. But that dude didn’t miss last night.
It happens for every QB against us besides Will Levis. After two years I think our defensive backs and Tim Banks are the common denominator. They make it that easy for the QB’s

Definitely blame the scheme on Banks. But, looking at the body of work we played a good style of defense this year.

I like Martinez' SEC experience. I think we arent far enough removed from the suck to make wholesale changes.

Banks has earned another year, but, after Y3. He's gone if it continues like this. Last night was pitiful. Some of that is on offensive coaching too.

What's most damning to me is lack of recruiting successes on defense, specifically at LB & Secondary. THAT is completely inexcusable.

We had 0 depth to start the season. And injuries hve killed us.

Players should be jumping to play for this team.

Our recruiting class for next year looks really good on defense. What are you talking about, Pruitt’s recruits?

Are you f'n serious?...only Tennessee. Either one sucks.

Banks does not deserve another year at all wtf. This was an all time bad Kevin Steele 70 point level performance that deserves an immediate firing but maybe they’ll wait until after Vandy puts up 50 on us.

I’ve been defending Tim Banks all season. And the numbers, besides pass D, backed that up. Really had a good bend, don’t break scheme going which I thought was great with the personnel we have.

Then last night happened. Having trouble with that one.
Yeah, I’m out. Tried to stay positive with it all year and kept in mind that we lack talent and depth there.. but talent and depth weren’t the only issue we saw last night. There’s plenty enough blame to go around between defensive players and coaches there.

While that may be the reason, watching the game, Rattler was dropping dimes even when we were in position. But lack of pressure on the QB definitely plays into that

They're not going to look at it like that. UT has looked borderline inept, uninterested, done-- take your pick-- in two games, the last one a blowout loss to an unranked team that the Vols were favored to beat by three scores. All with the playoffs on the line. The damage is done. LSU is geographically a good fit for the Sugar. And Bama and Clemson will be perceived as a better matchup than a struggling UT against Clemson or another strong finisher in the Orange.
I think you are taking the most negative view of it you can. LSU will lose and be a 3 loss team. I'm not sure what other game we looked uninterested in.

I think the big cushions help the QBs get in a good early rhythm by giving them easy throw and catches...and Rattler has always been an extremely streaky player...now add in several players purposefully not playing hard and you get a huge pile of crap.

I think the passive approach would have worked, and UT would have been able to make staff changes without terminations. That scenario hit a speedbump. Banks will be raised to $1.5MM, and while the spin is he's been tasked with doing a lot with too little, it's a bigger issue than that. He's at UT through 2024 unless he finds something else or CJH pushes a buyout.
welp I can’t watch this sad excuse of a defense for another season so I need to find a more productive hobby next fall.

Nah. It'll be Bama and UT as the only two loss teams. Lsu is either a 3 loss or flirting with playoff team. Which is funny to say. This shouldn't even be a conversation though. Tim Banks can go to hell for this **** defense. Smh. You got me fired up @LA Vol lol

Maybe just me but part of it seemed to be the field. Guys were afraid to go 100% in that sludge they call a field. Like playing in quicksand. Did we even pack cleats for such a disastrous field? Didn't seem like it.

Worst field I’ve seen in a while. You could literally see sand flying off the turf whenever a ball hit or a player cut. Players slipping all over. Hookers injury was 100% the turf and if it’s as bad as it looks it probably cost him A LOT of money on draft day.
