Tennessee’s big season sees Josh Heupel rack up the bonus money


"The success triggered three different incentive categories in Heupel’s contract and Tennessee’s on-field performance will net him $350,000 in bonuses."


"Heupel gets a $200,000 bonus for Tennessee making a New Year’s Six – that’s double his normal bowl bonus. He nets another $100,000 for the Vols finishing in the top 10 of the final Associated Press and USA Today Sports AFCA Coaches Poll. For being tabbed the AP SEC Coach of the Year, he’ll get an additional $50,000."


"Finishing behind an Alabama team it beat certainly was a head scratcher for a lot of Tennessee people, and though the difference in finishing No. 6 and No. 5 might not mean too much – this season was special by any measure, and everybody knows what happened at Neyland Stadium on October 15 anyway – it did have financial ramifications for Tennessee and Heupel, because a top-five finish would have netted him a $150,000 bonus and bumped his total incentive pay to $400,000."

Isn’t it called the Ballpark at Arlington?

The issue with the Rangers is that DFW is a metroplex, and Arlington is right in the middle of Dallas and Fort Worth. It’s the best location to get fans from both sides.
