I don't know much about the softball program, but Tennessee, more than any other program IMO, brought women's basketball to national prominence. We owe it to the memory of Pat to keep our program at or pretty damn near the top. Her players did it both off the court and on. I still can't get past how KJH whiffs on an entire recruiting class. That just blows my mind.
The LV supporters are roaming in the wilderness just like Bama football did when Bear Bryant left. Always trying to find a Bear Brian deciple. Until LV lays down the Pat Summit deciple requirement they will never recover. Not saying don't continue to honor her but that Era is gone. Stop trying to find the next pat summit and just get the next great LV BB coach.

I don’t follow LV bball very closely. So by what measure is she not good? When I look I see a 70% winning percentage overall at UT and 71% win percentage in SEC play. And coming off a Sweet 16.

Holly Warlick who was fired to bring in KJH

72% winning percentage overall
69.6% winning percentage in SEC play

3 elite eights and 1 sweet sixteen and won the conference twice (regular season & tournament)

So if you're firing that coach then you expect better results I'd think.

Lol damn, what exactly are LV bball fans expecting?

1a. Peyton
1b. Peyton
2. Peyton

Hands down my favorite QB, but if you're saying "one game in the playoffs, who ya got" I unfortunately can't go with Peyton...I'll take him for the regular season to get me there, but he really was a different player in the playoffs.

Reg Seasons Peyton: 96.3 QB rating, 65.3%, 270.5 ypg, 539 TDs to 251 INTs and 71% winning percentage
Playoffs Peyton: 87.4 QB rating, 63.2%, 271.8 ypg, 40 TDs to 25 INTs and just 52% winning percentage

They compare her to Pat. They did that with Warlick too....see they think just because they played for Pat and in Warlick's instance, coached beside her....they're instantly gonna have that same pedigree of coach that Pat was.

Now, imo ....I think with both Warlick and Harper....it is just too much pressure. Doing it at your Alma mater and being constantly compared to Pat. They gotta get someone who has no ties to the university as the next coach whenever that time may come.

IDK what UTAD is going to do about the women's marquee programs. They're high achievers academically, with SAs who rep UT well. Coaches and players are active in the community. It looked like the WBB rollercoaster was chugging back up-- started the season ranked #5 with expectations of a F4 run before thudding out of the Top 25. They've been unranked for more than two months and haven't beaten a ranked team this season.

The softball rollercoaster is on the incline pre-season, albeit with lower expectations. So we'll see. Both programs are a long way from where they once were.
What happened to LV Softball? What led to their current malaise?

Maybe. It would feel like another nepo hire, though. I haven't followed her at Duke. I saw it mentioned she's recruited well this year, but has her team been performing?
Her team has did really well this year from where they come….. beat nc state, Louisville….. lost to NC and got destroyed by UConn by 28….ranked 19th I think.

Lol damn, what exactly are LV bball fans expecting?

Jeff Walz at Louisville is 78% overall and 76.2% in conference play and he's made 4 final fours
Dawn Staley at South Carolina is 78.6% overall and 76.2% in conference play and has 2 titles, 4 final fours
Kim Mulkey at LSU is 88.5% overall and 88% in conference play and has 3 titles (at Baylor, only in year 2 at LSU)

That's what the Lady Vols bball fans want... I'm sure being a consistent top 15 team and getting to the sweet sixteen or further would be enough though. This is a mecca for Women's ball, there is a reason the Women's College Basketball Hall of Fame is in Knoxville TN.

She was on another level recruiting compared to Kellie.

Serious question - does LV bball hang banners for Sweet 16? Elite 8 (prior coach)?
Are you seriously ok with that crap that was put out there last night and in game after game after game this season? If so, then we have nothing to discuss.

InVol is right about her (especially the lack of any discernable team oriented offensive plan) and always has been.

I've almost watched as much Lady Vol's basketball as @bignewt this season.

They started the season with zero chemistry and playing hero ball. Key went out and they were able to just out pace and out athlete teams when still playing one on one hero ball. Stanford & UConn are the only good teams they've faced since Key went out and you see how they got handled.

Point taken. He was 3-2 against Brady in the playoffs.

Also Lady Vols' best win is Alabama and they aren't a great team.

The other good SEC teams are LSU, South Carolina and Ole Miss and they only have to play each once and only LSU will be on the road. If KJH goes 0-3 against those teams then she could be in trouble.
