Well we aren't beating south carolina that's for sureAlso Lady Vols' best win is Alabama and they aren't a great team.
The other good SEC teams are LSU, South Carolina and Ole Miss and they only have to play each once and only LSU will be on the road. If KJH goes 0-3 against those teams then she could be in trouble.
If Danny White eventually decides to go in another direction for the women's basketball program hopefully this coach gets some consideration.
Karl Smesko - Head Coach - Women's Basketball Coaches - FGCU Athletics
I've almost watched as much Lady Vol's basketball as @bignewt this season.
They started the season with zero chemistry and playing hero ball. Key went out and they were able to just out pace and out athlete teams when still playing one on one hero ball. Stanford & UConn are the only good teams they've faced since Key went out and you see how they got handled.
The beauty of women's basketball (imo) is that if you can coach it won't matter jumping to a bigger job. Cause winning and being at UT will make recruiting easy.
Agree......for the most partThe difference is that Rodgers has had next to no help. GB is the weirdest franchise they manage to get HOF QBs and yet rarely have great defenses, RBs, or OL to support them.
A franchise with 33 HOFs, but in the Favre era forward you've only had these guys go in:
Leroy Butler (2022 class)
Charles Woodson (2021 class) - spent majority of his career with Oakland
Brett Favre (2016 class)
Reggie White (2006 class) - only in GB for 6 seasons though at the tail-end of his career
That's it... just 3 defensive players, no WRs or RBs, or OL that played with Favre/Rodgers (yet) and only 3 defensive players that played with them and 2 of those guys (Woodson & White) were only there briefly later in their careers. All that to say once you get in the playoffs it's harder to win as a one man show (Peyton Manning, Dan Marino also had to deal with this).
Still in the playoffs I wouldn't put it on Rodgers for why they only made one super bowl.
He's 11-10 with a QB rating: 100.1, 64.7%, 268 passing yards per game, 45 TDs, 13 INTs
Bradshaw in playoffs was 14-5 with a QB rating: 83.0, 57.2%, 202 passing yards per game, 30 TDs 26 INTs
You're not wrong though that it's different eras. But even before 1980 there were accurate QBs in the league
Ken Anderson (7 seasons finishing with 60% or better), Fran Tarkenton (5 seasons), Ken Stabler (5 seasons), Dan Fouts (5 seasons), & Bart Starr (4 seasons) But Terry's best season was just 57.7% for his entire career (not counting the year he went 5 of 8 in his last season after the elbow surgery).
Also side note, imagine how many more SBs the Steelers would have had they taken Dan Marino to be Terry's replacement?
Again when someone says "who ya picking" it's always subjective and I gave my 3 and the reasons. I understand why people would pick Terry, so even sharing the numbers I'm not arguing he's a bad choice just why he's not my choice.
. Well hopefully he’s not cheating on wives anymore. Step one for him
Correction. There is no beauty to women's basketball. I wish Pat had coached at a different school so people would stop giving a crap. She is the ONLY reason any of you care and you know it. It's unwatchable and borderline pathetic. Hopefully the posts die down after 48 hours or so pass since the last time UConn whipped their ass like always. Can we revert back to shoe/sock talk maybe?
Agree......for the most part
And I'm not saying that Bradshaw was the best ever, or even close. He did have amazing talent around him and the best defense ever, but he carried the Steelers to several wins in the playoffs and played his best when needed. Young, Montana, Brady, and Aikman would be my other choices...in a must win game.
Marino though.....he "handcuffed" Miami in many ways. I heard so much of that when I lived down there. He wanted his passing stats and balked at having any kind of "balanced" offense. Miami had one good RB while he was there, but Sammie Smith couldn't hold on to the ball.
Maybe softball is better because of the pants they wear but....that's about itYou're not wrong. Pat was a once in a lifetime coach and her teams were far more enjoyable to watch than the product on the court today. I'd still watch cause it's the Vols and I try to support all the sports, but I also agree that Softball is a lot more fun to watch than women's basketball.
Hell I'm even hoping to get tickets to watch the Olympic Diving trials when they are at UT so if anyone (@LA Vol maybe?) knows how to get in to spectate that please let me know!
Are you seriously ok with that crap that was put out there last night and in game after game after game this season? If so, then we have nothing to discuss.
InVol is right about her (especially the lack of any discernable team oriented offensive plan) and always has been.
Agreed, you go and find the best available coach, no matter if he or she is connected to Pat.Spot on. It's past time to move on from the old guard. That's why the program is the way it is. Keeping leadership within Pat's coaching tree means mediocrity for the future. There will be huge support for exciting basketball that draws new and more fans to support the program. Go hire the best up and coming innovator who can recruit well out there. The old guard need to focus on the program - Pat's legacy is honored by having the program at an elite status.
I stated in the beginning I don’t follow LV bball closely. And you said banners - I’m asking a serious question - do they hang banners for Sweet 16 and Elite 8? I know the men’s team does.
Jeff Walz at Louisville is 78% overall and 76.2% in conference play and he's made 4 final fours
Dawn Staley at South Carolina is 78.6% overall and 76.2% in conference play and has 2 titles, 4 final fours
Kim Mulkey at LSU is 88.5% overall and 88% in conference play and has 3 titles (at Baylor, only in year 2 at LSU)
That's what the Lady Vols bball fans want... I'm sure being a consistent top 15 team and getting to the sweet sixteen or further would be enough though. This is a mecca for Women's ball, there is a reason the Women's College Basketball Hall of Fame is in Knoxville TN.
