I have some ideas but you should really call a pond guy to come look at it. Its not a quick fix. Could be your water chemistry being off (pH, nutrient), plus the algal growth isn't helping. If your chemistry is off it could be causing blooms and lowering oxygen levels. If your pond is overstocked you could have excess ammonia (NH3 - nitrogen source).Speaking of pond maintenance, @SoilVol I took these photos to better show what I'm dealing with.

The clear water isn't doing you any favors. But there may be another culprit at play. Got any muskrats or otters that pay you a visit? Common snappers? It's telling that the small and the slow fish are disappearing. A heron can't clean a pond but otters definitely can lolI've put grass carp in on a few occasions only to never see them again. I suspect it's a blue heron because I don't have fish large enough to prey on them. They could be going over the top of the dam though.
By the way, @TN-POSSUM is responsible for most of the trash in my pond. Seriously people, quit throwing your trash out of your car window. Are you really that lazy and trifling that you can't dispose of your trash properly? If you toss your garbage out of your window, your a piece of worthy of a @Ulysees E. McGill beat down. You know who you are.
Would that be county extension agent, UT, or something else?I have some ideas but you should really call a pond guy to come look at it. Its not a quick fix. You could kill the algae with chemicals or the barley straw method... or get some carp. Might be helpful to plant more aquatic vegetation in and around the water. Consumes excess nutrients and oxygenates the water, will keep agae growth down, and provides habitat for fish and fish food (minnows, insects, amphibians, etc).
Lots of possible problems and probably a few solutions. Not overly complicated, just will take time to correct.
No otters or other mamals that I've seen. It has good flow so I don't think oxygen is an issue. I've seen a turtle or two occasionally. Lots of bull frogs if that helps. The clear water isn't doing you any favors. But there may be another culprit at play. Got any muskrats or otters that pay you a visit? Common snappers?
