Saban would only be #1 if the ranking were intentionally turning a blind eye to being allowed to cheat with impunity. He bought that first Julio Jones class with megabucks and everyone knew it and the 'AA was investigating Bama at the time and just ignored what everyone knew. And he never stopped.

As it is, he should get an asterisk:
*No record at Bama on a level playing field beyond his first year. He cheating with impunity and controlling the SEC office and its officials invalidate all results beyond his first year.
Everybody cheats. Saban was just very good at it. I give the devil his due. But currently, Smart would be #1.

He was not good at it. He was exempted from enforcement. There's a difference.
Look at it however you choose, but the fact he was able to do it so easily with zero consequence speaks to him being good at it IMO. And Smart took that same philosophy to Georgia, and he gets away with it. You know who couldn't get away with it? Pruitt.

If you're ranking all time, Saban would be #1. But that isn't ranking all time. It's supposedly ranking where they stand currently. And currently, Saban would be #2. Back-to-back titles means Smart would be #1. I would put Heupel #3 based on last year. He destroyed Brian Kelly's team in their home. Kelly would be #4, and Kiffin #5. I'd have to think about the rest, but I doubt Arnett should be last. I understand it's because he's new, but whoever coaches Vandy should almost always be last. There are occasional exceptions, but Lea doesn't appear to be one of them.
Okay, see where you’re coming from. I’d have a hard time putting KS ahead of NS. Understand the reasoning with BK. LK has done nothing that should have him above 5. Think SB is in the right spot even if SC and reporters are in love with him.

I don't want to prolong the discussion. It is simply my policy to never permit Saban's "stolen valor" to go unchallenged on this board. There can be no non-hypothetical or non-imaginary argument that Saban could have succeeded at Bama without everything being rigged for his advantage: because it has never occurred. There is no evidence one could cite on Sabey's behalf.

He was ignored when he violated coaching limits (simply inventing a new name for them). It was Dodge Chargers, antler spray, and biased officiating all the way down. But KS did the same thing.

All time, Saban would be #1 on the list. But current, it has to be Kirby Smart. I hate it, but he's won back-to-back titles. Smart is the hottest coach in college football atm.

But the list changes every year when you're ranking "what have they done lately".

My list of where SEC coaches stand currently.

Smart
Saban
Heupel
Kelly
Kiffin
Freeze
Fisher
Stoops
Pittman
Beamer
ED
Napier
Arnett
Lea

I would put Freeze above Kiffin because Freeze was expelled for beating Saban twice in a row. Kiffin hasn't done that, and he only "won" here year before last year on account of a wrongly erased TD and a rigged spot, to say nothing of 19 faked injuries.

I thought Beamer was the one with ED. O, you mean Drunkawilt.

Parker update - today we got results back from a full lab work up yesterday that revealed he has Mono. He has been fever free for almost 24 hours. Hemoglobin levels are a little low but other than that we are seeing some real progress in his energy and behavior. God is good! Could have been much worse. Not every day you see a 1 year old with Mono, crazy!!
Very glad you have a diagnosis and very glad he is getting better!! God is good all the time.
